New Brake rotors and pads completed.

All 4 rotors Gen MB parts modified by me by way of using VHT Caliper Paint to ensure no ugly rust. Akebono Euro pads fitted also so looking forward to not spending more time cleaning rims than driving the car.

The rims are booked in for their treatment and then I will be re-fitting the Olsen centre caps back on then new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres will be fitted to help my Rims survive Australian roads. After uploading the photos definitely new lugs. Maybe I might try the Titanium ones? Anyone with real life experience using quality Lugs will be appreciated.

Rims look great, one would get a better idea what they look like on the car if you had a shot of the whole package, not only the individual rims.

- Definitely new lug bolts.
- I personally prefer MB Center Caps.

Do you have an idea how effective your new air scoops will be? In other words, did you dyno your car before the mod and plan to re-dyno after, to see how much the new scoops help?
I would like to do this but the numbers show a good air flow with the factory set up.

It's amazing how Mercedes can't put on lug bolts that don't rust. Just needs a light chrome coating.

I will be honest and say for me after reading all I could find on the air scoops it was never argued and nearly all testers agreed that it would not have an adverse effect on performance but all agreed was a great cosmetic mod only.

Mine decision was based on this. I had concerns with the $2 plastic pipes and didn't even know where the capture points where until I started looking for a better conduit to supply my air to feed my beast something that is so vital and Carbonio was a no brainier in the end for me personally because my concerns were valid and a much better system was available.

That said, Air Scoops came straight after buddy because there are some great looking cars out there and they look even better with their Air Scoops on.

2009 E350 4Matic wagon (his), 2005 E320 4Matic wagon (hers)
Long list of stuff done...and in process...

Just got done with the wife's wagon. Still working on mine.

What I replaced on her car:

Engine mounts and the trans one.
Ignition wires.
EGR valve.
Alternator.
Brake light switch.
The disintegrated wire loom on the few wires that touch the front of the engine, as well as the connector harness for the throttle body.

Cleaned out the throttle body and MAF sensor, as well as the debris collected in the air filter housing. Also shot plenty of throttle body cleaner into the intake manifold when I had the MAF sensor off, and mopped up the black goop that flowed back down.

Also, I removed the HVAC blower motor, cleaned it out thoroughly with CRC electronic parts cleaner and lubed it with Nye Lubricants synthetic electric motor lube (it's a heavy oil). It had just started to squeak. Totally silent now.

What I'm doing on mine:

Both front CV axle boots, and both sides on them. Yay. If I didn't have a lift I'd have some serious back pain right now.
The same blower motor clean and lube as above. Mine's been squeaking for a year now, esp. in cold temps.

Yes, both cars have over 100K. 124,290 miles on hers, 122,000 miles on mine.

Welp, it was done a couple of weeks ago, and a two-week process but:
New intake manifold
New pressure sensor (cuz stupid me broke it)
New cam magnets
New knock sensors
New cam plugs
New expansion plug
New centrifugal cover
New cam sensor O-rings
New front lower control arms, spring arms, sway bar links, ball joints & camber bolts
New throttle body
and what the heck, I'm in this deep - a new MBZ license plate frame.

Not including the suspension work, what did it cost and what is a reasonable amount of time wrenching.

Now you tell me that I need a new Frame! Was about to buy all the parts and would have missed that one.

Lol! All said and done, minus the suspension work & alignment was $2,800. From that you can deduct $1,800 for the throttle body.

After I finished the work I was having an intermittent hard-start issue. Took it in for diagnostic and they found a short circuit in the TB. They think I might have messed it up when I cleaned it (throttle body cleaner probably got into the electronics. Even they said it was very unusual).

$1,800 included $1,200 for the TB and an extra $120 to update the software on the ECM - they said with the new style cam magnets the ECM has to be updated.

I could have bought the TB from RMU for about $400 but after changing it, car still needs to be reprogrammed. I didn't want to chance it and wanted warranty in case the problem wasn't resolved so I opted to pony up the extra $1,800. Can definitely be done a lot cheaper though.

As for wrench time, I spent an entire day on it but I took my time. Based on how-to guides that I read, the intake manifold replacement procedure is estimated between 2-4 hours.

Sounds good. I figure a weekend should be safe then. (Unless the license plate frame bolts are stuck)

Yeah, you should be good. Just a heads-up. You can't move the wire harness completely out of the way. There's a wire running somewhere behind the alternator and another on the left side of the engine that I figured are just not worth tracing to disconnect. However, each has a retention clip (one on the alternator body and on the other side somewhere hear the PS pump). Just slide the clips off to gain a few extra inches of clearance.

The license plate frame is the result of being sold the wrong pressure sensor at the dealership. Since my indy shop installed the right one from their inventory, I asked the dealershipfor a refund but was told it would be issued by check and not to hold my breath on getting it by Christmas. So instead, I told them to give me the new license plate frame and a couple spare knick-knacks. New frame sure looks nice though!

Chicago Winters are talking their toll on the original, and you need that fancy bent in the middle frame to look right.

The new one I got at the dealership is polished stainless steel - hope it lasts for a while as my old one was showing its age as well.

I only got the rear because I don't have a front plate. Glad no one ever drilled the front bumper.

This past weekend, replaced the drive belt, tensioner, and both idler pullies. Also replaced the air filters. Summer tires go back on next week, and I'll be doing plugs in the near future as well, 9 years/145,000km it's probably time.
