That last pic is tectite gray, the first is the pewter. I shopped for my E500 in both of those colors so I saw a lot of them. The Desert Silver is much "brighter" than the pewter. My neighbor down the block just traded his E430 for a desert silver E500. When you see them next to each other you definitely see the diff.

Thanks for the discussion. The ocnsensus seems to be the car closest to the camera in the first pic is pewter and the lower car is tectite.

BMcD-E500, what tipped you in favor of pewter?

I saw a car on the street the other day. It had almost a traslucent quality ot hte color. Seemed it was either tectite or pewter.

Pbgas - It was truly a toss up between the pewter and the tectite. It came down to availability. In December no one in the Chicago area had any tectite E500's with the options I wanted. So I went with Pewter. I get a lot of compliments on the color and it does stay cleaner than the darker colors! Gotta like that!

I'm also in the Chicago area so if you want to see the color in person let me know.
