My personal experience with the resonator delete/x-pipe mod is with my W210 E55 (I also did a 2nd cat delete but it produced great sounds and some hp/tq gain) but there was a member who did the mod on his W211 E550 (I can't recall his username unfortunately) to great success. A quick browse around youtube will net you some sound clips.

This kinda stuff is bush league nonsense.
Shame the things that happen when these cars get so cheap.
That's his opinion. I don't much care for it nor do I agree with his perspective, but if I let people influence my decisions based on their arrogant statements I'd be in a pretty bad place in life right now. Just ignore it. He's entitled to his opinion no matter how intolerant it is. I just find it surprising someone would join a community into modifying and working their cars if they hate anything other than stock.
As per your other thread AutoHaulers, I think your best bet is probably a resonator delete with x-pipe. A lot of people are happy with it on the W211 from what I can tell. A little bit of a different sound from what I wanted on my car - but that's just me - it's still quality for sure.

Now, generally yes, I stick to working on the cars. But when people want to do half assed jerry rigged mods, especially to get a stupid loud luxury car (which makes no sense) I comment. Again, if that offends you, I don't really care.
hmm, gee, sounds an awful lot like what I said above, isn't it?
I for one don't want a "stupid loud luxury car" - my car sounds pretty similar to an E63 which isn't muscle-car like at ALL. So I don't really get your point, because I'm not doing anything that ruins the character of the car. Nor would a properly executed secondary cat delete or resonator delete as Autohaulers was asking.
I agree with you on the second part that yes, why would he do that? But - my point being - there is a DIFFERENCE between modding properly and putting money into it, versus just *******izing what is already there by unbolting it for a loud sound with a lot of drone. There is nothing wrong with modifying your car if you do it properly.
Now then,
I agree about the difference between modding properly and jerry rigged crap (my point to the OP).
Generally, modifications made to cars as well engineered as a MB do absolutely nothing to better them. If you feel differently, thats your business and your money (or your parents money, whatever)
I 100% concur with your point to the OP, but you can't tell someone who has put a lot of money into modifying their car PROPERLY that they are doing nothing to improve it. It's all subjective - I give you that, but I can at least say my car doesn't look like every other W211 in the area and has even more presence than stock.

This is an incredibly dumb thread. First we have people unbolting parts from there car to mod it, then we have people saying any modifications to your car usually lead to problems. << losing a lot of faith right now.
Crafty where you at my man?
