I have an e55 on order but thinking of getting e500 with full brabus or other kit, what would you do? E55 in Canada where you cannot speed + e55 has bad consumptionproblems...or e500 with style and comfort....i'm pretty much confused i test drove e55 and e500 and i think that e55 is pure sport car and it has pretty stiff suspension, ....my conclusion is that e500 is pretty fast i can speed with it too....with nice soft suspension and stylish kit....what you say?

You say you cannot speed in Canada...problem solved....do not get either. Both cars are gas guzzlers which is one of your complaints. The E320 will get you from A to B in style. If you want more style get the sport package. Since you have lots of cash to blow, consider the S class too.
Nah s class is not for me i had 745i and it felt big....e-class is a perfect car and i want to feel some horses uinder my Azz so e320 is not my case.....i want e500 probably or 400 cdi....which are not in North America yet....right now i'm driving e220 cdi and i'm loving it you can go a week on one full tank (my moms car in europe) ....and it's not slow at all....so i'll probably go with e500 + some kit + nice set up of music... Does e500 comes with all that body roll stuff so i can take corners and all that.... ON THE OTHER HAND i always dreamed about a sport car....(e500 is fast enough faster than my brothers ml55 amg isn't it?) so y don't i go with e500?right? hmmmmm
Really confusing!!!! my head is gonna crack now lol

I'm not interested in arguing, however, your own post says you cannot speed in Canada so why do you want a powerful car? Did I miss something? That said, E500 must be ordered with drive dynamic seats for body roll stuff. Suggest you hit your reset button and rack and stack your requirements in a car, pros and cons, then decide.Originally posted by BoBcanada

one of the biggest reasons why i bought the e500 was the adjustable ride: sport and comfort. the e55 is a sports car with 4 doors and has a tighter feel than the e500, even in comfort mode. i get around 20 mpg in city and last hwy trip, got 25 mpg.

E55 style and comfort is not that bad either. with their amg kit, i would say they're ok. so i would say stick with e55 rather than change into e500

I would personally go with the E500 and free up some cash to add some of your own mods to your car. I wouldn't go with the AMG E55 because your car will look like everyone elses out there and I also don't like what you get for all that extra money.

If E500 can do the trick, there wont be a E55! Personally, I think the E55 is a piece of art. It gives you all the style and comfort you can find in a MB and yet, there is such a powerful engine under the hood. Driving a E55 doesnt mean you have to speed all the time. Its the "availability of power" when you need it. You're in the slow lane, you need to merge into the middle lane, if you have a E55, you can just step on the gas pedal a bit and the massive torque in your car will do the job for you. I am not saying E500 cant do it, but E55 will do it crisper and quicker. Thats feeling is quite rewarding. You may not do that everyday, but when you need it, the power is there!
However, if you consider yourself as a "conservative" driver. Then a E500 is more than enough for you. You mentioned that if you were to get a E500, you will put a set of bodykit and some nice audio system. I dont know about the bodykit part, but if you're getting a E55, I think eventually you will soup up some nice audio system there too!!
Afterall, it really depends on how much you're preparing to spend and your NEEDS. If you can afford a E55, why bother to think of anything else?

I am strongly agree with harris say. E55 is an art. and if you can afford it go for it... but once again this is just our opinion, the choice is yours. anyway those 2 cars are da bomb yo

E55 in Canada where you cannot speed
last time I drove car at 70 mph from Buffalo to Toronto, all the cars pass my car. I had to drive up to 80+ mph to keep up with them. (it is dangerous when you drive too slow among fast cars.)E55 in Canada where you cannot speed
I think you can afford a good ladar jammer. (I believe it is not difficult in getting a speeding ticket even you drive a e320. e55 gives you the power when you need it.)
both E55 and E500 consume a lot of fuel -- it does not make BIG difference between these two hogs. so don't change your order, go for e55.

OK you say the E220 CDI is not slow at all. Then you will love the E320 CDI, with 369 lb-ft of torque (500 n-m). That's more torque than the E500, and feels like an E500 for 90% of all driving situations. Plus, absolutely NOT a gas hog.

Can't speed in Canada? The last time I saw the police on the highway (that is what we call the freeway) here was about 2 years ago..

Here in the UK I could have ordered my 320CDI Estate in full AMG spec with the sole exception of the AMG exhaust!!!! No doubt once I had taken delivery there would have been a supplier somewhere that could have supplied the exhaust.
Is it possible to order whatever model you personally like, then if it is not the AMG, have itsupplied with all the AMG 'bells and whistles'?
Good luck with your choice
Regards,
John
A windy, rough morning in Torquay

That's a great question... How is Canada for options? Originally Posted by glojo

The CDI options in the U.S. (as described ad nauseam in other threads), are a subset (2/3?) of the options available for the gasoline E's. I don't believe you can get a fabric interior in the U.S., and you can have any color you want as long as it's some variant of silver/grey/black. (I'm exaggerating slightly, there are 2 blues, a red and a green, but your dealer will frown at you and your lack of future resale value). I've not heard of AMG options or tuning on a diesel, or I probably would have bought one.
I'm interested in knowing if Canada tends toward the continental preferences for basics, colors and cloth, or prefers the sybaritic hedonism and gadgetry of the U.S.?

Definitely the latter. The Canadian MBs are very similar to the ones in the US. Biggest difference is that you cannot switch off DRL and 4-zone climate control is standard on all W211s.Originally Posted by pa28pilot

i parked my E next to an S and the S looked bigger but really was only about 1 foot or less longer. sucks because i hate that the E has poor rear leg room, as big as the car is.Originally Posted by BoBcanada
