04 E500 interior lights problem

Hi folks. I have an 04 E500 and a few days ago all the interior lights on the overhead panel, both front and back, stopped working. In addition, the sunroof switch doesnt work either. Im wondering if there is a fuse that controls the entire light and overhead panel area? Thanks in advance.

Overhead control panel (OCP) fuse is f9 @ rear SAM located behind left side trunk panel. Video covers removal to inspect (i.e.: ribbon cables, etc.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx3M8yRvcus&NR=1

Hi Konigstiger. Thanks for the tips. I checked all the fuses and the ribbon cables on the overhead and no luck. It also turns out the issue is more than just the dome light and sunroof switch. The rain sense no longer works and the door ground lighting is also out. Im guessing there must besome kind of main relay or breaker that controls the entire area. Any ideas or im i stuck with a trip to the stealer?

Dealer should run diagnostics with SDS. It could be your front S.A.M.

I am having the same problem Peter is having. But my car is a w209 clk 55 amg.

Today I went to my local shop and they tested the computer on the car and the guy said the rear sam showed no fault codes.. But he suggested buying a cheap junkyard one and try.. Cause the fuse #9 ocp fuse was working.

It can either be the ocp or the rear sam (even though it shows no codes the guy said this)

What Im looking forward to is removing the ocp and check for any damage.

Does anyone know how to remove the ocp? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Ocp

I fixed this problem myself, I bought a used front dome light from ebay for $50, when I received it I noticed that it has a different color, so I decided to swap the boards, it just had 9 to 10 screws inside, it's realy easy to open and reinstall it, the problem is with the board inside the dome light, I changed it and all the problems got fixed, to open the ocp, I'm not sure hoe it looks on your car but on mine it was realy easy, first you should open the rain sensor cover, then an small cover that is around the mirror (there is no screws), then if you look closer there is 2 holes that you can insert your finger inside them, you have to push the 2 bottuns inside these holes, then you can pull the hole unit out easily, if you still have problem let me know and I can make a video o how to open it and send ye link to you.

Update

The buttons now work. The problem was a loose cable. The dealer quoted me $765 for the Rear Sam, good luck I took time to remove the OCP.

I can't find another thread about this topic so you're my best bet. I just removed the aftermarket video system from the rear dome light location and am ready to re-install the OEM dome light, however, I cannot figure out where to plug in the ribbon cable. Anyone?

Need VIN (post or PM) to supply correct part # to comparison shop. Even though subject is a different problem you may want to read through this thread and check ribbon cable and circuit board (post 24) https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...activated.html

in your post you stated that you bought an overhead unit from ebay, took the board(s) out and installed them in old shell. does this process involve any module/computer programming or is it just "plug and play"? please advise.
Thanks!

Dome lights and Sunroof

Hi, I have an 03 E500 that I just got from a family member, all the interior lights on the overhead panel, both front and back, stopped working. In addition, the sunroof switch doesnt work either. And randomly, my dashboard lights and dashboard shut off while driving until I stop and restart the car . Can anyone elaborate on this problem and give me a part number or part to fix or replace?
