09 E350 - difference bet. P1 vs P2?

What additional options do you get with P2?

I had a question regardsing this as well.... I am currently looking at getting into an '09 E350 Sport (out of my '08 C350 Sport) and have seen many E350s that do not list P2 and do not have keyless-go (engine button on the shiftter) but do have headlamp washers, or at least have the openings/plugs.

I have also seen many '09 E350s that claim no P2 and do not have the headlamp washer plug/opening - as one would expect. Can anyone shed further light into this?

A couple other questions:
- Do all '09 E350s have LEDs in the tail lamps?
- Are the Sport Rims (18" 5-spoke AMGs) staggered - not talking about the E63 rims?
- Was the backup/reverse camera not an option for '09?
- Do all '09 E350s have HID lighting? With the P2 difference being the Bi- portion (meaning two HID bulbs for Hi & Lo) and Active Curve Illumination?

Also LED parking (city?) lights, I think... The ones in the middle.

BTW - headlights are either bi-xenon or they're halogen. This model year did not offer low beam-only HIDs.

E350 4matic Sport

I recently bought a '09 E350 4Matic Sport w/ Prem 1 package. To wit:
>The 18" AMG front and rear wheels have the same width (8.5") and offset(1.5" or 38mm), but mine is a "USA only" model and non-4Matics slightly differ in re. F/R wheel width and offset.
>No LEDs in rear tail lights.
>standard halogen headlights. Only the center mounted rear brake lamp is an LED.

Oh, I almost forgot...in re. headlamp washers, I believe all '09 350s have these. They auto-activate if/when headlights are "on" and then the windshield is washed five times; i.e., following a 5th window cleaning cycle, a very rare occurrence for most of us.

The windshield washing system and headlamp washers share a common fluid reservoir.

While we are on the subject does the silly little squirt of the headlamp washers actually make a difference? I liked it better back them when little wipers cleared the snow off of the headlamps.

those silly washers

+1 on websrfr's comments.

I would guess only a few owners actually benefit from this system, especially in the U.S. where 99.9% of the driving is city/suburban + interstate highways.

That makes sense that the 4matics are standard width, they are on other Mercedes models.

I should have been more clear, I was referring to staggered wheels on RWD versions. But I found the answer after actually reading the brochure, instead of looking at the pictures and captions

I thought the top portion of the tailights were LED blinkers? Perhaps not but they certainly changed the style from the '08s to the '09s, the '09s have a honey-comb look to them.

I looked at some more photos and every 09 E350 w/ Sport Package has the plugs in the bumper. However, the luxury E350s do not have the plugs, unless the have P2. Perhaps it was a production run choice to simply include the plugs without the jets for all sport bumpers.

I use wash my windows quite a bit, close to weekly. In the winter months I wash them almost daily on account of the amount of salt and sand that is put down on the roads in MD. We could have a dusting and the salt trucks are out.

I personally do not like the headlamp washer system. I always seem to have a need to spray my windshield for the 10th time right after I wash my car leaving water spots all over the hood.

I had little wiper blades on my 2003 Range Rover and I think I had them fixed a total of 4 times.

I attached the option list from the E350 brochure because the website mentioned above locks-up up sometimes. I have the entire .pdf if anyone is interested.
