BRAKE - visit workshop

After driving a few minutes I'm getting the BRAKE Visit Workshop (in White not red as you would expect with worn brake pads) and also the message with the car and up arrow (which i think is the airmatic)

Don't see any wheels sitting lower and brake pads still look fine. Any ideas before I run to the dealer?

Sometimes the car symbol with up arrow message comes first and then the BRAKE message ...

I'm getting the white BRAKE message also. No arrows though. Brakes seem fine, pads are good. I replaced the pad sensor anyway, but the warning is still there.

i'm bringing it in next week.

From what I've read it can be the SBC needs replacement or a $15 brake light switch.

We'll see.

If your vehicle are equipped with SBC, more than likely you have reached the operation time of the SBC hydraulic unit. MB extended the warranty on this unit so take it to the dealer and get it replaced for free

It can be MANY things. You must scan the car in order to find out exactly what's wrong. In my car that BRAKE message was the pressure reservoir that went bad.

What was the cost for the repair?

I did it myself and bought a used reservoir so it was about $200.

Got the car back from dealership, turned out to be faulty Brake switch and they wanted to replace it for me at a good loyal customer price of only $250. LOL.

Needless to say I turned it down and had no repair done but they stuck me for $155 dianostic fee, funny thing is the error message has not come back on since. Bought a new switch for $16. just in case though.
