Navigation showing wrong location
Hey.
My 2004 E320 wagon has been showing the wrong location on my Navigation for about a year now. THe dealership couldn't figure it out, since it works fine occasionally. So I've been driving like this for a year. Maybe you guys can help.
I notice that when it fails there is no latitude and longitude coordinates at the bottom of the navigation map. When it's working fine, those coordinates are there. SOmetimes it's off by a few blocks, other times by a few miles. THat map just shows us traversing random terrain, and even into bodies of water, haha.
Is there an antennae that might be disconnected?

Check GPS antenna connection - 450 in diagram and antenna leads inclusive of splitter behind left rear cargo panel (i.e.: loose, corrosion, etc). If fine, you “may” need to replace antenna part # 2118202675 to comparison shop parts.com $110.40

I have the same problem with my E500 sedan. The dealer says it could be the processor as neither the phone nor the radio would work if it was the antenna (they both work fine) but I am going to try the antenna first. The dealer I went to was not the most intelligent, they even tried to tell me there were no batteries in the TPMS sensors!
I have now moved across the other side of the country so I will be trying a new place for service etc. We will see what happens.

Remove left side trunk panel and check antenna connections + splitter in trunk mounted left side rear shelf if fine, dealer or independent will need to check antenna/connections – need to drop headliner.

By the way, you said left rear cargo panel, the pdf shows passenger side. Is the diagram correct?

Couldn't find it...there's a subwoofer there and it's hard to look behind it. Are you sure that's where the antennae is?

GPS antenna is located under tailgate spoiler. Connections (splitter, etc.) are located behind left cargo panel - check your email.

Thanks Konigstiger
I am in the process of quite a major relocation and it will be another few weeks before I have my new house with garage. Until then my car is alternating between being with me at my serviced apartment parked undercover or in valet undercover parking at the airport. Once I get my house and garage, I will check the system according to your instructions. Cheers

This may sound too easy, but try it if you haven't already. I had the exact same problem. Good fried MB shop foreman took my navi disc out, cleaned it, and it has worked ever since. Before it would only pull in two satellites, now it is like 5-8. Good luck

How to remove tailgate spoiler to access antenna?
I have not been able to locate the exploded diagram of that part of the tailgate and am hesitant to disassemble blindly -- can anyone help with direction as to removal of the spoiler? I am 90% certain that my antenna is the culprit.
Thanks!!

I have a 2018 E63S Estate and noticed today on a trip to Oxford that the location triangle was showing that I was on adjacent roads to the M40, probably quarter/half a mile away from my true location. The car has only done 3500 miles, so of course it can go back to the dealer, but now I'm curious.
Is this a common/temporary fault due to a satellite/GPS/aerial going down that will be fine the next day?
I've had Mercs for some 10 years now and never seen it before. Interested if others have had similar faults and whether it just sorts itself or if it's back to dealer for reset/repair?

Yes - there is an update for navigation showing incorrect position - all relevant cars affected are prompted when plugged in on Xentry system - I have done quite a few
Dealer should do it for little or no cost when in for service or a good indie with up to date system
