I don't have that many miles yet. I have 116,800 miles and have no major issues. I will probably have to do a Tranny Flush soon (have not done this yet since 73,000 miles!

Just regular things that need replaced like control arms, ball joints, engine and transmission mounts.. I have a wheel bearing thats bad due to a crater i hit on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Engine and transmission aren't giving me any problems. no CEL's I need to replace my Aux battery and probably the part that plugs into the alternator.

What is it with the NJ Turnpike? Is that the worst road in America? Why can't they maintain that road properly. Or is the road funded by suspension, tire, and wheel manufacturers to cause as much damage as possible?

My buddy has a 2003 E320 with 280K miles on it and it's in excellent condition. That's why I got my E350 - figured they can last. Not sure about mine though (06 E350) - the odo just clicked 100K and I got the red screen of brake death (SBC pump is bad) so I'll be calling in for the 10 yr/unlimited mileage replacement for that.

Are those considered "regular" replacement items at that mileage? I've had 5 cars over the past 15 yrs I've put more than 150K each on and not needed anything but an alternator in one and (what I consider) regular things like tires, plugs, filters. Heck, I'm not even needing to replace exhaust systems anymore - seemed like when I was growing up those went every year or two.

The only exception was a VW TDI that was crap right after the warranty expired - 5 $300 MAF sensors (every 30K miles it seemed - the gasser version of the same part is only $60), timing belt @ 60K miles, turbo @45K miles, glow plug wiring harness @50K...got rid of it at 160K when the last MAF sensor went on me as I was entering the highway & it decided to go "limp-home mode" as I merged in front of a truck - almost killed me. I was doing 150 miles a day in a commute and hoped to save money on gas & maintenance by going diesel. Didn't. Will never buy another VW (or Audi) in my life.

I'd expect a Benz to be better constructed than my Chevys, BMWs & Subarus. Hell, my Jag didn't require that much intervention.

04 E320 4Matic...every problem you can think of. When i bought the car i had mo idea what i was getting myself into. Sludge in the engine, leaking tranny fluid like crazy, SBC unit failing, both batteries replaced twice, ESP is malfunctioning now so my car hasnt moved in like 2 months, replaced all air struts, all control arms, air compressor, trunk and sunroof leak, motor mounts and tranny mount, and just the normal wear and tear. F this car.

And if it was not leaking then, but is now leaking like "crazy", ....... Are you sure the car is/has been properly maintained?

Seems to me like what you experience could easily be taken care of by a trained factory technician.

Didnt notice the transmission fluid until it was sitting. And you are correct, it can be taken care of by a mb mechanic. I am waiting to get my taxes back so i can afford it. I'm a single mother with 2 jobs, 2 cars and a house to maintain. The benz wasn't top priority. I've fixed most of the crap that was wrong with it. When i bought it, i was told it needed cats. Sales guy was an idiot. It needed motor mounts. This car is just a true POS. I fix one thing, something else goes wrong. My benz is a true "Money Pit".

220,000 miles. I had to replace all of the known culprits mentioned in these forums, I did 99% of the work myself. I love the car and I intend to get to 500K miles with it.

With ALL due respect, but you should have maybe never purchased it knowing that there was something wrong with it. Why would you buy a car that has issues and not have it inspected, trusting the sales guys opinion?

And sorry here as well, a Benz is a fine machine which needs to be maintained as such. If taken care of, it is by far a POS, if neglected, it will turn for sure into one.

If you do not have the funds to maintain this car, it is not the car for you.

I changed motor mounts at 84K miles, even a Benz is not bullet proof as it is still designed and build by humans.
But if you read here, there are many cars out there with lots of miles on them, but they are most likely not neglected and properly maintained.

You probably bought a high miler from a used car lot, the car was picked up at an auction and quickly turned over to you to make a quick buck and you thought it was pretty cool to own a Benz, not doing the prior homework on the car or getting it inspected by a professional.

Lesson learned! GOOD LUCK.

168000 miles on my 2007 E350.

Major repairs have been balance shaft and conductor plate. Most everything else has been routine maintenance. I get regular maintenance done timely.

I look to drive the car well past 200K miles if I can.

The early pre-facelifted cars didn't have a very good rep. However you don't really have any major problems. Did you pull the code for the ESP? That could be as simple as a bad wheel sensor, but it could also be the steering angle sensor or the yaw sensor. You'd have to have it scanned to figure out what the codes are. There are some cheap scanners out there now that will read MB specific codes. They're in the $60-$100 range now. My motor mounts failed at 60k. SBC had a 10 year warranty but I guess if you did it recently, it probably expired.
