06 E320 CDI "red reduce oil level message"

I am 600-700 miles since my last dealer performed oil change. Since that service I will get the "red reduce oil level" message on the display at random occurances, but only while interstate driving. After you clear it, it will not come back until the car sits for a while and sometimes appears on the return trip only one time. I check the oil level between the trip using the buttons on the wheel and it always states "oil level ok". The red message will not appear when driving rural and city driving. It will not appear every time on the interstate (3 out of 5 average). Does the stationary oil level check use the same sensor? If so, do I have a faulty sensor?

Take a look at this older diesel oil thread

I don't have a diesel, but I suggest you
a) Get a dipstick and check the level directly (or get your dealer to
b) read this thread and see that indeed a sensor can be the issue:

Vettdvr,

Would the red message appear only on the interstate with your car and did the oil level read ok when checked on level ground?
