2003 W211
Its different to the Europe model, it doesn't have a 'Video' button which then brings up a menu to select 'DVD' to play DVD's.

i have some pics, but still, the blurred parts are there, btw, that MB pic is pretty fake, the center bulb in the rear view mirror isnt that strong, it really doesnt help, but its there

first pic is a pic from the backseat, ambient lighting is on #2...rear lighting is on one of the lowest setting, it looks much nicer in person though

I had the original and replacement cars side by side during the exchange. I noticed this difference as I was adjusting the configuration.

The replacement car was picked up yesterday afternoon, 24June. The original car built Oct02 had the wheel movement button on the door. The replacement car has this function on the steering wheel.

Well, my wait will be a bit shorter. My replacement was scheduled to be built during the first decade in July, but today I found out that it has been built already and I should have it within the month.

That gives drb a little time to write the official COMAND II user's guide and get it posted. I can't wait to let it guide me the 2 or 3 miles to my house!

I called Sirius Radio about MB installation. They say it will be available for MY04. The Command will have a SAT button...guess what, Command II has that button in the MY03 replacement car. It may be that the replacement cars will have Sirius capability when MB comes out with the receiver. The receiver, said Sirius, fits in the trunk or under a seat. They did not know if Circuit City, Best Buy, etc. could install Sirius now. At this stage of the game, Command II is possibly too leading edge.

There is nothing more to photograph on the Command II. If you have a specific photographic request please let me know.

i see, so i guess you cant play DVD's or anything like that. one quick Q, can you put the NAV on mute, and turn your music on, like FM, or CD? also, when your looking at your speedo, and it shows all the turns and stuff, does it show an overview, say like a 5 miles radius from where your from? also, do you like the new NAV? is it worth it? sorry about all the Q's, thanks

I put a dvd in the nav unit per the manual, but I get CD error. There is no one to ask why. I also put it in the hole in the dash but no luck. Hence, I cannot take a pic of the movie.

The manual is thorough and easy to read. I started using the nav without reading the manual and had it running in about 5 minutes. The manual will need to be read for the fine tuning. Sadly, there is only the instruction above, as far as I can tell, for reading DVDs.

The Nav voice can be muted and play music. The speedo shows direction, street address and distance to the next turn. I like the Nav and think it is valuable. I have used 5 nav systems. This one comes closest to the Alpine. The voice prompts on the MB are much better, more precise and pleasant than the alpine. The alpine has more information on the screen at one time where the MB has a mode to show the GPS coordinates (number of sats, llat.long, etc.) and regular Nav symbology in another mode. The rerout is faster than Alpine.

I will try to take a pic of the speedo in nav mode.
