mercedes benz E240
SBC failure
I live in Kenya, East Africa and recently bought a used Mercedes-Benz E240 saloon from Singapore. The vehicle was first registered in March 2005.
When I went to pick the vehicle from the port, the ‘Service Brake – Visit Workshop’ light went on. I have been informed that the SBC is faulty and needs replacement. I also understand that Mercedes-Benz have given a 10 year warranty on the SBC, which can be replaced free of charge at any Mercedes authorized workshop.
My problem is that the local dealer refuses to replace it under warranty. The dealer in Singapore has also refused to assist, insisting that since the vehicle is no longer in Singapore, they cannot do anything about it!
I strongly feel that I am entitled to a replacement because the vehicle still falls within the warranty period. Any advice?
