2004 e55 hood open error-replaced switch and still not fixed!!!!
So i have tried everything other members have posted...
1. replace the switch under the latch
2. made sure the switch is secure and in the correct placement
3. I used a ohm meter to check sensor and seems like the sensor have no resistence(0 ohms) in open position and has infinity resistance (open circuit) when hood is open..
Can anyone provide any insight to the annoying problem?
The error seems to come on whenever I exceed 5 mph or hit a bump. I can expalin why is triggers when i hit a bump....

Most common reason is faulty or physically broken sensor. Assuming sensor is new and installed properly, wiring is intact, and warning happens when you hit a bump I would suggest checking if the hood closes/catches properly.

Appreciate the advice, however what same issue---bad ATA switch or one side(which side) does not properly latch closed.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
The attached WIS docs in post 3 are excellent for understanding the location of all components, however it is very important that when removing the right latch you carefully look at how the pull cable end attachés to the latch.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
This is even more important if your issue is with the drivers side latch, because more times than not the cause of "not latching" on drivers side is the pull cable is stretched slightly and does not latch correctly.
If that is the case the pull cable has to be replaced!!Test it carefully!!
