Mercedes-Benz E350

Does anyone know when the Mercedes-Benz E320 will be replaced by the E350?

Initial Spy Information.............

Starting about May 2004 production the current 320 engine will be phased out and replaced with the new 350 engine.

The current 3.2 litre engine produces 221 horsepower and will be replaced by a 3.7 litre engine producing 240 horsepower.

If this is true, the current model year would be useless to buy in either 320 or 500 engines.. MY2004 the 500 will reviece a 7G transmission and the 320 will recieve a 3.7 liter engine.

I believe the 350 engine planned for later next year is not the 3.7 3 valve but the new 3.5 4 valve design. It is also supposed to outperform tne 3.7 partly due to direct injection.

I don't see a mid model year replacement for the E320 to the 350, they will wait until 2005. None of the car magazines mention a 350 for 2004, autoweek even had a blurb a while back that said specifically it would not happen.

A totally new motor like this would have to be in the US emissions certification program by now to make it as a mid-2004 replacement, and one of the auto mags would have picked up on it by now. I still say it will be on the 2005.
