Got the Gtech Pro today...5.68 0-60
Got the GTech Pro today, the EBay one for $59 shipped. I opened it out of the box on the way home and got one run in. Pulled off the highway, set it up, and when no traffic, went for it. Bad launch (way too much spin) but the first read was 0-60 in 5.68, and then the 1/4 mile in 14.02 @ 106.8 MPH. It is great, you can get the 0-60 and 1/4 mile readings on the same run, just go to 60 and then keep on going... I know I can do way better, heating the tires, and finding the right launch RPM. Was fairly happy with the times and was actually pleasantly surprised by the 106.8 MPH given the fairly slow 1/4 time, but I read the GTech measures MPH at the end of the 1/4 mile, vs. the trap speed we are normally used to seeing in 1/4 mile speeds. That explains part of the higher than expected speed. Also, the excess tire spin at launch hurt the times, but probably helped with the speed. Any other Gtech 0-60 or 1/4 mile times out there???
Will test the Horsepower readings on the GTech tomorrow. Anyone run a stock E500 on the Gtech yet to get a HP reading? I am interested in what, if any, gains from stock I am hoping to get with the chip, K&N's, exhaust.

Epower, here's my results from my first night with the GTech.. I haven't had a chance since to get any readings... (don't remember the readings exactly.. but I posted them on here one night last week when I took them).
0-60: (from memory)
6.41 (very bad launch... wet roads)
5.68 (better launch.. but still know I can get a better launch
¼ mile: (from memory)
14.2 or something.... speed 85mph. I decided partway thru to SLAM the brakes.. then changed my mind.. and hit kickdown again. Musta been right at the end.... decreased my trap speed.. time wasn't bad
That's all for now.
These #'s should be interesting....

I forgot we had Claudette coming by this week to pay us a visit. My "runs" will have a wait for few days.
I"ll get stock baseline readings later in the week when things dry out some.

EPower, hey man I was wondering how you are launching on your runs? I have tried with ESP on and off.. and I seem to get a better launch/time if I leave it on. If I turn it off.. my rear tires break loose and the tail end starts to tail over to the left before finally getting enough traction. My runs were a few hundredths slower with the tire slippage.
Just wondering if you found a better launch method.
Also, I tested the HP with a weight of 4000.. and it seemed sort of low (i think low 200's). I will mess with it again tomorrow... but I am wondering what would be best to use for a weight (curb weight? does that include driver, passengers, etc?).
Thanks
Peter
PS: My runs last night were as follows:
7/15/03
84deg
0-60: 5.73 & 5.83 with ESP ON, 5.90 w/ESP off
Just wondering if you found a better launch method.

The curb weight of the E500 is approx 1725Kg (3795lbs).
Curb weight is measured to an EU standard which includes 7kg luggage, 90% full tank of fuel and a 68Kg driver.
On the G-Tech you should expect to see around 220 hp for the E500.
Performing runs on a flat straight surface with correct weight input is essential for accuracy with the G-Tech unit.

EPower, I took a reading of 229hp last night with a "weight" of 4000lbs. Not sure if I did it right.. will have to find the manual and try it again.
During my run a cop materialized out of nowhere and decided to tailgate me for about 1 ½ miles. He finally turned off.. but I think I really got him.. when I put up the rear sunshade. =)
