Fog lights HID conversion?? (need help)
I want to upgrade the halogen fog lights to match the HID headlights (which are aftermarket Philips 4300k 85122 35w D2S)
I believe the fogs are H11, can I upgrade these to D2S or will that be too hot?
Otherwise which bulb will match the 85122??
Anyone???
The car is a 2007 e350 (factory AMG kit package).

Optimal size
Or would it be better to convert the fogs to H9 or 9006??
What is the best fog light HID kit for the AMG bumper in the w211?

Thanks!
So 5000k H11 will match the color of the Philips 85112?
Any specific brand of bulb I should look for?
I also read that the PIAA Extreme White Plus match..?
Any thoughts?

I am looking to install some 8000k for my fog lights, to match my 8000k in the city lights. But how did you learn to install your fog lights? Do you have a link you used?
Thanks

If you search the forum on this westu93, you can find information on that install. Welcome to the forum by the way. The simplest way to do so is to get a kit from DDM tuning that will allow you to do foglight with the slim ballast. They won't be very effective fog lights at 8000k though, but I hate the blue and yellow look ricers have for headlights and foglights, respectively.

I've used the DDM HID kits quite a bit, but on the cars with CANBUS, I would rather use a kit that is already CANBUS ready. It is normally the original size ballasts (not the smaller ones), but it does away with the error eliminators. Even if you use the slim ballasts that DDM has, you'll need an error eliminator and their ballasts has another small box in the output side. So there are three things (Ballast, Error Eliminator, and small output box) you'll need to find places to mount them to.
The last ones I used were CANBUS ballasts, so that was the only thing to mount. On the W211, you'll have to make a hole in the fog light cover to accomodate the wires going in and out of the foglight housing. It's better to make it a bit smaller that it being too large to make a good watertight seal.

I'm not sure if there is any normal incandescent bulb that is close to 8000k. That's very blue, I've only seen bulbs that match up to 5000ks. They might exist but I haven't found any. If you're going to be going for strictly aesthetics for you fog lights (a little bit of a ricer thing to do though), look for error-free LED bulbs that will match 8000k. I know they're at least available for the city/parking lights in the front inner headlight cluster. eBay might be a good place to start.

I'm going to 5000k all around. 55w balasts for the lowbeams, phillips bulbs for the high beams, LEDs for the city lights. Fog lights I'm still deciding but probably won't go HID yet.

$29 for HID kit and $15 for Error Eliminator BOW3.

How can you tell if your car needs CANBUS kits? Looking for an error free HID kit for my fog lights if a 35W system won't break my lenses or melt my housings, or perhaps doing LED if I can get one with capacitors.

I just installed a set of error free H11 6000K hid kit for my 2007 E550 today. I also disabled the directional fog light up feature so my fog light won't turn on when I steer right or left. =)

This feature turns on the appropriate fog light when the wheel is turned and I think signal on to give you the advantage of a little more light for the direction you are going to be travelling. Ie, turn wheel left, left fog light is illuminated this is only operational when the headlights are on. My lights are always in Auto mode so this might also need to be selected to get this function to work.

Sorry to bring up this thread again but I have a 2007 E550 as well and I never noticed this feature before... how do I turn this off?

Guys, normally sorry to revive an old thread but since this is timely for me I thought I would anyway, lol. Looking to upgrade the brightness of the beam from my foglights. Given the price of a new kit:
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...ed=0CC4QrQMwAQ![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I thought that I would first try to better results by replacing the bulbs with something brighter. What is the size or part number of the replacement foglight bulbs, D2S 35W?
Additionally after reading this thread I am now very clear that I will want all of my lights:
1-to match in color, white, not blue or yellow
2-not LED
Therefore what are the brightest bulbs that I can get for my CLK which won't burn out my wiring, won't burn out housings and lenses and will give me more of a fighting chance at seeing critters large and small that like to jump out onto rural roads at night.
Thanks.
