Clicking behind passenge vent or dashboard

Hey guys, just past few weeks ago my car has developed a slight clicking sound behind the vent when the air is on and normally on low fan speed. I would drive and it goes away, when im at a stop, it comes back. The thing is, it really comes and goes and no consistent pattern of when it happening and sounds like the fan is spinning on a stuck leaf, it pretty slight but noticeable. I couldnt really find much information on the W211 forum but lots in the W203. Could it be the stepper motor that I hear about, I have a late 09 w only just about 36k on the odo. Any slight ideas would help

Pull the under hood air filter and look at the fan blower to see if there any issues.

That sounds like a good idea, Where is the blower located exactly? Where is the hood air filter?

Hood air filter means the cabin air filter....

Search this forum for cabin air filter.

It is not actually IN the cabin. It is on the firewall, right behind where you fill the windshield washer.

Here's instructions for a later model:

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...2009-e350.html

You probably won't have the plastic plate on the top, but otherwise it's about the same underneath.

It is easy to check out. I suggest that you turn your fan on while you have the air filter out. You will then hear where the clicking is coming from. Maybe the bearing in the fan. Again, search for cabin air filter.

Took the cabin filter apart, looks at the blower and everything looks brande new. No debris, no leaf. I tried turning the fan on while the cabin filter was off but couldn't hear anything, everything sounds normal. I stuck a vacumm in the blower area anyways just to suck anything possible out. I'll have to wait if the problem get worse or if it comes back. I hope it doesn't
