Another newbie question.........

Is the extended warranty, that you get from MBUSA negotiable, or is the price written in stone? My dealer gave me a brochure, with the prices on it, and I was wondering if I could save more money on it. There is no sense giving the dealer any more than I have to. Thanks

There is no reason to buy the warranty from your dealer. You can buy it from any dealer and it has the same effect. You have a year to buy it, so there is no rush.

Many people on this forum have bought the extended MB Warranty from Lisa Lehrbaum, Finance Manager at Courtesy Motors in Chico, CA.

Contact Info: lisamarie@llehrbaum.net for email, phone 1-800-655-3535.

The last post with a price that I could see was $1,680. The list price on this 7 year MB warranty is (or was) $2,650.

I haven't bought the MB warranty yet as I have an replacement car on the way. There has been a lot posted on this in the past and this is the best source I have seen. The warranty is the same no matter where you buy it.

Maybe someone who purchased this from Lisa can post some more information.

I tried that email address and it came back as undeliverable. I have yet to try to call. Has anyone delt with her on this warranty lately?

Maybe someone who purchased this from Lisa can post some more information.

Did you try the 800 number. Maybe they have changed email accounts. I notice that Courtesy Motors Mercedes site is temporarily down.

Do a seach on Extended warranty in this forum and you will find a couple of threads with the contact numbers and site addresses. I may have it wrong.

Not quite. On my ML, it didn't cover a broken cup holder ($75)and the rear hatch struts ($175). Read the sales brochure for the warranty and go over it carefully. If something isn't mentioned, its not covered.

I don't think the salesperson can change the stated coverage on the policy, but check with a service advisor to find out what "everything" means to him. I hope you're right.

I tried to contact Courtesy Motors in Chico to see if LisaMarie was still there as finance manager. I got the reply below.

Here is the correct email address for LisaMarie.
Check out her price before buying the MB Extended Warranty from anyone. She has been about $1,000 lower than anyone else in the past. Shows how much profit there is in the warranties!! It is the same warranty no matter where you buy it and the terms are exactly the same. All dealers will honor it. The service department will not have any idea where you bought it....no matter what some salesman tells you.

lisamariechico@yahoo.com

Here is her reply using the above email address:

"I do know that I am very busy and people have to leave messages. The evening is the best time because I work from pacific coast time from 11 am to 8 pm. Which if you are on the east coast is 2 pm to 11pm. I am still here. E- mail is also an excellant way to reach me. It may also be that last month the line going to my office had problems in my wall and the machine thought I was on the phone for 5 days and my voice mail overloaded. I am still here." lisamariechico@yahoo.com

Wiper blades $175? I wonder if they are noisy too...

While the warranty specs change constantly, I am sure, my friend was considering to extend his lease on his 2001 S, in which he had purchased the extended warranty. But, after both me an him looked over what it did not cover, it left a lot to be desired. Get the full disclosure and read it carefully from the dealer, so you have no surprises.
