hi guys wondering if you could help me.
ive got 2007 facelift e320 i had issues with horn, paddleshift and multifunction controls on steering wheel. i now have changed the steering angle sensor and everything is working back to normal only issue now is my dash board and "esp inoperative" displayed and car is in limp mode.
anyone experienced this? or know anything about it?

One ---do you have distronic?? and two, regradless of number one, did you follow the very specific and detailed WIS instructions pretaining to the installation of the steering angle sensor???

Not knowing that important install fact leads me to believe that although he gave you instructions on how to install the sensor-----he really did not know how to properly install the sensor-----so know you are confronted with two issues---is the sensor really installed and positioned correctly? and two if it is, then you need to finish the install with the DAS Xentry diagnostic system.

Did you purchase a new MB part or did your buddy sell you a used angle sensor?

If new, my guess is that the sensor was not installed correctly?

I did not answer your question because there are many more questions that apply----worry about the horn later!!

What I would do to confirm the condition of the e-bay purchased sensor is just clear the fault----then run the car around because now you say you do not have distronic and therefore distronic does not have to be adjusted to the new sensor-----now after clearing the fault and running around---------do the dash lights come on----if they do then I would suspect the sensor is faulty, but if the lights do not come on you are ok!!

I had trouble with WIS and your VIN therefore I will use a generic 211.022 after mod year 04 for reference. However EPC read the VIN(datacard) correctly therefore there is nothing wrong with the VIN.
FYI all my excerpts are from WIS doc AR4610P0300TA.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The very important point is checking and turning the position marks(arrows) of the sensor and the inner race to the center position-----to do that---
turn(GENTLY) the inner race counterclockwise to it's stop point------then turn clockwise approx two revolutions until the arrows on the sensor and inner race match up.
Don't forget to clear the fault before you take everything apart--Good Luck!!

hi ive followed your instructions and still no joy esp light not wanting to go off. ive even had the car tracked.
ive made my mechanic show me all faults showing on the star and it comes up as " steering angle sensor not initialized" is there something else that could be wrong or what??

That's good news------no faults------now you have to adapt the sensor to the car---start in control modules---then adaptations---find your module and then follow the instructions.
PS: Your mechanic should be very familiar with the process!!
