How to track after built date........

My car's built date is suppose to be tomorrow. I called my dealer and ask how can I track the car after it's being built. The salesman says you will just have to wait until it arrives and for us to call you. Isn't there a way to track the car on the boat and on the train once it arrives in the U.S.? Will a Vin number be available right away or it takes a couple days after built and what would I need to track the vehicle (ie. VIN or Order No or ?). Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

no way to track unless shipping company is HUAL.

Here is my understanding of the process:

Your dealership will know the VIN # soon after the car is complete and should be able to give it to you. Sounds like they are being real jerks about telling you to not call.

Your car will be shipped from the Bremerhaven port within about 1 week after completion. There are two shipping companies I am aware of. Wallenius & Wilhelmsen has a web site that you can track the car using the VIN or order #, which the dealership already knows since they have obviously placed the order. It is a 10 digit number. The Wallenius & Wilhelmsen web address is http://www.2wglobal.com. Click on Cargo and it will take you to a page where you can enter the search criteria (VIN or order #). Your car will show up once it is on the ship.

The other shipping company is HUAL, as Brav mentioned. Their website only shows the voyages, you cannot track the cargo so you won't know for sure which boat your car is on. If it doesn't show up on a WW boat within 2 weeks, chances are it's on HUAL (mine car was shipped on HUAL). On the HUAL website, you'll need to know which port your car will enter through. Mercedes has VPC's in Baltimore, Jacksonville, and Los Angeles. It takes about 2 weeks to cross the pond. Then another week or 2 to go through VPC and arrive at the dealership.

I dopped my car at the Bayerisherhof Hotel in Munich on October 16. It was on the October 23 ship to Jacksonville and arrived on November 10. Yesterday, my dealer told me the car was "delayed" at VPC and should be on a truck any day now. In all, it's been about a 5 week process. Maybe it will be here tomorrow......

My dealer advised my built date was Nov. 20, 2003 (when I ordered the car in October) and so I called my sales rep Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 and sayed still no VIN number and status shows "In Production". He says possibly it was built already but hasn't updated the VIN in the system. Should I be concerned? Your thoughts. Thanks.

lol, i was the same way, hopefully you can get it before christmas, i would tell your dealer to put the car on "priority" so they can get it before the year is over, so they can reach a higher # of sold cars, GL
