Slight vibration at idle when in Drive
HI I own a 03 E320 and sometimes I feel a slight vibration when I put it in drive sometimes. I brought it to dealer and they said the they can't find anything wrong. checked motor mounts, scanned all sensors, fuel injectors, coil packs and even compression test and found nothing. The technician said it might be bad gas and suggested to use 93 oct fuel and fuel injector cleaner.
Any thoughts on this matter?

Does the vibration go away if you put it in neutral? Try that next time. If it goes away, put back in drive or reverse again. If the vibration returns in D or R and not in N, the engine mounts are likely bad.

bad spark plugs can also cause the vibration, if you haven't done them and they are due might want to check that. if it's spark plugs, the vibration usually goes away as the car warms up

03 E500 and Corvette
To change mounts.
1) Jack car disconnect betteries
2) remove exhaust manifold to get to the top bolts on the mounts. IF you can on your engine you may not have to do this.
3) remove motor mount bolts
4) Jack engine
5) remove mounts.

it's usually the transmission mount that goes out first, the trans mount is easier than an oil change... seriously. The other two mounts DO require to remove portions of the exhaust
Trans mount is literally 4 bolts, 2 13's and 2 16's, will need jack stands/ramp and one jack and you can have this done faster than it takes you pick up your tools off the ground.
i was about to order an OEM mount on ebay for $50 but i saw that Autohaus has an OE mount for $30 +shipping. just wanted to see if anyone could verify that Corteco is the manufacturer of OE Mercedes mounts?

just finished doing the mount after work, thanks to konigstiger i bought a Lemforder mount for $26ish shipped.. took me about an hour to do in my driveway
made a BIG difference, shaking almost completely gone but the drive is sooo much smoother. i'm going to see if i can check the other two mounts see if i need to change them out as well.
Thanks again for the info Dan

Most of this has been covered but:
1. Motor Mounts
2. Spark Plugs
3. Ignition Coils - this is the issue that I had where I had a vibration at idle that was abnormal that turned into a check engine light and pre-ignition ticking. Took it in right away and it fixed the problem.
