oil leak

2008 e 550
oil leak
there is an oil leak on my 08 E550. drivers side rear. I pulled off the underside covers and the engine covers, but I am not sure where its coming from. somewhere above the exhaust manifold as I occasionally smell burning oil. what is a common site for this.? wlr in san diego.

I put it on my lift, took off the under engine covers and the upper engine covers. still could not locate the site. does anyone know what a common leak site is for this engine? valve covers, some grommets, etc. wlr.

Possible oil leaks on E550
I have a 2008 E550 that had this same annoying problem. After troubleshooting It was determined that the cam shaft end plugs needed to be replaced. These were replaced and my problem was solved.

Common leak site is the centrifuge cover on the M273 V8 on the E550, it causes leaks towards the driver's side when it cracks over time. $300 fix for me and no more issues.

unless it switches sides on the 211 vs the 209, the centrifuge is on the passenger side. The cam plugs are on the drivers side and are easy and very cheap to replace.

I was completely off on that whoops, I remember having leaks more towards the drivers side when I had the issue with my centrifuge. But it was because the way the oil was dripping down off the components that it ended up appearing that way. My bad.

e 550 08 oil leak andburnig oil
my e550 08 is leaking on the pass side. oil is burning on the exhaust manifold. i have changed all cam plugs and the oil separator using gasket cvement. no leaks or wetness in these areas after driving the car but still smell burnt oil. no leaks or wetness along the bottom of the valve coveron tht side. no leaks from the top of th valve cover near the coils. i put in u/v dye and used a u/v black light to look for leaks and still cant find it. kind of puzzled. not from the reatr main seal, front crank seal or the trans oil cooler or oil filter area. any thoughs out there? not the rear locateddipstick i think too. warren in san diego
