Adaptive Brake Light (Flashing Under Heavy Braking)
Has anyone activated this function in the Ream SAM?
I'm thinking of changing blinkendes bremslicht to zugelassen (Under Notbremsung) but thought I'd ask just in case it's not correct.

I did do it but have still yet to verify what it looks like. I slammed on the breaks on an empty road the other day and could tell something was happening but not which lights were flashing. On my 2008 the rear sam actually has the option in English can't remember exactly what is says though would have to take a look again.

I've activated it on my w220. I've pounded on the brakes a few times and my friend who was following didn't see the brakes flash. Not sure what it takes or if it will even work.

For european Mercedes this feature has been standard since 2006.
Adaptive brake lights chime on, when the car is going faster than 40mph and it is heavily decelerated or the BAS kicks in or ABS kicks in. Then the braking lights flash very fast. If the car comes to an standstill, the hazards automatically are engaged. The can be disengaged manually or the will automatically disengage, when the car is going more than ~7mph.
The feature looks like that:

So I am in STAR and see two options:
Blinkendes Bremslicht
Warnblinken nach Notbremsung
Both set to nicht zugelassen which should be set to zugelassen for enable but can one enable both?
IE: you enable the flashing brake lights and the bottom are the harzards that enable once stopped right?
EDIT: Thanks to google translate. Yes the question that I asked is correct in the translation below. Set both to zugelassen (enable)
Thanks,
-Nigel

NSG: A little more info, please ... where in the STAR menus do you go to get to Blinkendes Bremslicht and Warnblinken nach Notbremsung?

Control Units -> Body -> Rear SAM -> Dev. Data -> Control Unit Adapt. -> Control Unit Adapt. (Variant Coding)
Scroll to: Parameter Notbremsung, in the submenu you will have two more options: select zugelassen (enable)

Can anyone confirm that all US models have this option stored away and that it can be turned on, I have an indy shop that said they will check to see if this is option that is stored in the computer that can be turned on but they said they we will charge regardless if this can be done or not and unfortunately I do not know anyone with a STAR tool. So before I bring it over to them can anyone confirm this? Thank you

I did enable this on my CLS, but whether the option is available depends on the SAM version.
At the same time I have no idea if it actually works because:
A) I do not drive behind my car's taillights
B) Testing this is intrinsically risky (need a good deep brake event) and I can't do it my self (refer to A)
C) Testing requires wearing 1k set of tires and 2k set of brakes for no reason (probably repeated times)
While the feature is nice as a freebie personally I would not pay for it.

See my post above yours. I'm in the USA. I enabled this feature along with flashing the blinkers after you have stopped.
It works fine. Is the shop paying to turn on a PER FEATURE basis or just in general shop time to do so?
I ask this because if they are paying shop time (which they should) you should turn on other features.
Do the following as well:
Remaining Fuel:
Inf & Comm -> Instr. Custer -> Diag. to Plant Spec. -> Control UnitAdapt. -> Variant Coding -> Read Coding and change....
Set TANKINFO in REICHWEITENBILD to ENABLE
Set TANKINFO in REICHWEITENBILD to ENABLE
Control Units -> Body -> Rear SAM -> Dev. Data -> Control Unit Adapt. -> Control Unit Adapt. (Variant Coding)
Scroll to: Parameter Notbremsung, in the submenu you will have two more options: select zugelassen (enable)
Think the first choice is flashing brake and second is hazard lights, enable one or the other or both...

Enable Date in the Cluster
Control Units -> Inf. & Comms. -> IC - Instr. cluster -> Diag. to plant spec -> Control unit adapt. -> Control unit adapt. ( Variant coding ) -> Variantkodierung Werkseinstellungen: Set "Datumsanzeige Grundbildebene" to aktiv. (active)
- Then reboot the cluster

You can also set the side view mirror park assist so that when you put it in reverse the passenger mirror goes down. This can be unlocked and I posted in a thread about it recently.
IF you have to pay PER feature which is BS... I would probably NOT pay just to have the brakes flash... it's something that wouldn't be worth it to me if I had to pay.

You probably have it. Only way to check is with STAR...
For $50 I'd say do it. Do the other things that I mentioned above and if you don't have park assist enabled you can have them code that as well...you will have 5 things unlocked/coded so at $50 (it shouldn't take more than an hour to do all of it. Probably 30 minutes) you get $10 a feature...lol

Park assist is when the passenger side mirror points down to the ground when you put it in reverse. For whatever reason MB decided to remove this feature on certain year w211's which I think would include your 07. I know it wasn't available on my 09. As soon as I enabled it I got the option in the cluster. turned it on, and then pushed the mirror adjust button to the passenger side so when it's in reverse the mirror automatically goes down.
Nice to have. Our 05' CLK had it and I wonder why they removed this on the w211. I believe the w210s had this feature.
See this thread that I posted in.

I was asked to code this on a pre-face lift and just to clarify this here, too. It will not work with any pre-facelift 211's with SBC. You can enable the feature in SAM rear all day long, they will never come on when you do what is shown in the 212 YouTube Video.
The signal comes from the ESP unit through CGW to the SAM Rear and none of the pre-facelift models have an ESP with that functionality. And it's impossible to change out the ESP with a 807 ESP without taking the SBC out, the steering rack, the brake booster and basically everything else that is brake related.
The entire story is also well explained in WIS for anyone to dig deeper. Document number SN00.00-P-1047J
