Backup Battery replacement alternative on E320

Hi Guys,
my backup battery (under the hood) on my 2004 Mercedes E320 has gone bad. it reading 8volts DC. i believe its suppose to be 12VDC.
the original mercedes battery is so expensive and i am not sure if there is other cheaper brand out there that i can use.
this battery looks almost identical to motorcycle battery so my question is can I use the motorcycle battery as they run for under $50.

Also my question is woes the same alternator charges the main battery and the aux battery or is there some other charging system for the aux battery?

-----------

Ok I finally replaced my battery..end up ordering it from amazon for $41. Just replaced it and battery alarm is cleared instantly. Didn't needed to charge the battery. It was literary plug and play.

Battery used: YTX14-BS HIGH PERFORMANCE MAINTENANCE FREE- Sealed AGM

I used this battery with no issues:

Amazon.com: ACDelco ATX14BS Specialty Powersports AGM JIS 14-BS Battery: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco ATX14BS Specialty Powersports AGM JIS 14-BS Battery: Automotive

And yes, the same (and only) alternator charges both batteries. If you change the battery yourself, just be careful to not touch any metal with the positive cable. I did not disconnect the main (rear) battery when I did the replacement.

Car free at the moment
It is a standard sized motorcycle/powersports battery. Any decent auto store will have one in stock. I don't know that you're going to get it for 50 bucks, think I paid about 80 last time. You do have to add the acid and seal up the battery. It's very easy and safe to do. Just follow the directions; give the battery time to absorb the acid before sealing it and installing in the car. The car will charge it up to full for you. You may get the battery warning on the first couple of starts, but it will go away after a while.

Thanks guys...I had purchased a motorcycle battery from eBay last year and for that one I didn't had to out acid or anything as it was a gel battery. It was ready out of the box and i paid around $40 for it. Can I use a gel battery?

This is what I used in my motorcycle "YT12B-BS S4 ST4 Multistrada BATTERY" search it in eBay and it's like $32. Worked great on my motorcycle.

I think the recommended battery is a size 14, not 12. Any motorcycle AGM battery will work.

Don't use a gel battery, use an AGM.
