Seat Belt Buckle Recall coming....

If you own a 2004 USA E class 211.0 with the last 7 of the vin between A380171 and A414720 or X111031 and X114452; or a 211.2 with the last 7 between A376166 and A387669 or X110258 and X114446 you may need new rear buckles. Go to your dealer and have them run a VMI to see if you need campaign 2003 120006 done. [A piece of adice, the ending numbers are not etched in stone....I have found later numbers needing the recall] This recall will be announced to the public after the 1st of January.

Still in the shop? What else are they doing? The 211 recall only involves the rear buckles and the job pays .7 of an hour.....

On Monday it will have been there for a week, but that's with the holiday in between and reduced hours a couple of days so I'm being patient since they gave me a C Class to drive. They are also fixing the radio, which only works sometimes. Checking Airmatic as it seems irratic and when parked, the car isn't always level. Realigning the headlights as they are way too low in my opinion. Apparently, on the radio problem they have ordered a new rear-view mirror. There is a speaker in there and they say it's shorting out causing my radio to not work. I was also told, however, that since the Comand unit is new, and since Germany doesn't tell them much (how many times have I heard this?) that they aren't 100% sure what's wrong. What do you want to bet I get it back early next week and continue to have problems with the radio? Sorry to be a pessimist, but I just read the thread regarding radio problems on 2004 models and I'm not feeling very optimistic at this point. We'll see......

mallard, let me know what they say on the headlights, I also feel they are too low and as a result don't illuminate very far at all. If it is an adjustment I will tell them to do it on mine also.

Also, make sure you read your service ticket when they give you the car back, my service advisor told me that they fixed the glove box, etc., but when I read the service ticket, it said nothing done, and when I showed him that, I realized he did not know anything about what was actually done on my car...pm me with the name of your service advisor and your thoughts...

abhansali, you can adjust the headlights yourself if you like, the Service Manager showed me how. There are some bolts just above the headlight housing that when turned adjust the height of the light. They are surrounded by a plastic housing but are visible when you look straight down on them. They are in a little hole. He said it requires either a 10 or 15 mm socket. I didn't try it myself since the car was going in but if I'm not happy with what they do I'll do it myself. If you can't find them I'll take a picture of mine when I get my car back, hopefully tomorrow.
