Audio Upgrade
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I recently bought an 06 E500 with the HK premium sound package, nav with the original 2006 nav cd, and a 6 disc changer. The telephone buttons are present and don't work. I don't think the option is installed since there is no cradle of any sort in the center console. The sound is great and SAT radio works, but the unit is outdated and I'd like to upgrade to something more current. I've gone through a lot of threads and read about how fiber optics are used and how incompatible the system is with aftermarket radios. I like the stock look, and I've seen many Chinese aftermarket head units that advertise a ton of options. I doubt their quality is good though. I haven't seen one that has a SAT radio option, nor have I found one that can run all 9 HK speakers without major mods. Does such a unit exist?
