I don't believe this is for real.
No press releases from Mercedes?
No TSBs?

Looks like the warranty was also extended for the fuel tank. What is that about?

If you have documented failure that call for replacement, MBUSA usually grandfather the recalls, so give them a call.

I contacted MBUSA via email and their reply confirmed that any issues with the SBC are covered under the warranty extension. All registered owners will be receiving a snail mail notice of the warranty.

Probably same as SBC, I received a letter earlier this year extending the warranty for an additional 10 years.

On other forum informed poster said that even scheduled SBC pump replacement would be covered.
Would love to see copy or that letter when someone gets it? I no longer own SBC, but covering maintenance issue on cars coming to 15 years would make quite a precedens.
Would I not have too many MB already, I would start seeking 2005-2006 E320 cdi

So the fuel tank might be covered for 25 years instead of 15 years now? I was thinking of dumping my 2008 in about 4 more years just because of the fuel tank, but I guess I could keep it a few more years after that if it's 25. It was made in 2007 so it's already 11 years old.

I made an appointment and dropped the car off at Mercedes of Downtown Los Angeles on 08/31/2018. They loaned me a courtesy vehicle through the long weekend even though I offered to bring the car back on Tuesday since they don't service these type of repairs on Fridays/weekends and Monday was a holiday. I got a text on Tuesday saying the car was ready to be picked and I picked it up on Wednesday. The service tech said all that was necessary was a software reflash. My friend with a similar vehicle (E320 CDI) had a red message on the dash and his vehicle is having the accumulator replaced.

OK I have gotten the C2131 code for the accumulator. I also have the fuel tank odor/leak issue. I made an appointment for Friday at MB of Plano. I've researched a bit and it seems there are mixed results getting MB to replace the accumulator under this warranty. I would think common sense would dictate that they just do the SBC now but I know better than to assume this will happen. Has anyone had any experience w/ the accumulator code and this new warranty extension?

@kajtek1: When is the "scheduled SBC pump replacement" supposed to take place? At X miles, X years or X pedal pushes? Did not know it was scheduled as a service item? I have 100K+ on my 2005 wagon, lots of stop-and-go commuting so there's got to be a zillion pedal pushes. Car has been mostly dealer maintained due to a very long extended warranty. Never once did the dealer say that it was time for an SBC replacement due to the service schedule, years or pedal pushes - neither has the MB Indy that works on the car now. I don't see anything on the W211 MB Service Sheet printout I have from the dealer either. What are you looking at that suggests that the items covered in this warranty extension are actually regularly scheduled service items?
Thanks!

Dealer will do nothing with old invoices.
You need to talk to regional representative, what usually gets you via calling national hotline. Previous reports says MBUSA is not honoring independent shops, but if you bought parts from a dealer- they can reimburse you for that. Keep us informed.
Frankly reading the letter it is not saying "unconditional" warranty, so IMHO they still can refuse honoring scheduled replacement.
For those who did not catch that over the years - the SBC calls for pump replacement at 600,000 pushes, but it also counts pump activations, what seem to affect primarily number.
First years had 400k pushes, what dealer can reflash to 600k.

So I just got a call from the Service Advisor. SBC is complete. Fuel tank repair was started...but since it's a 4matic car they have to remove the mufflers and apparently the brackets are rusted. Brackets are only sold WITH the muffler which is $600. Warranty Extension will not cover this part. They claim they appealed it to MB Warranty Services. So now if I want my fuel tank assembly replaced...I have to pay to have my muffler replaced which is in perfect shape.

Bulletin specifically makes reference to exhaust “fasteners” of which one can argue this indicates coverage. See attachment. Furthermore, brackets are available separately as documented in EPC.

Brackets (if these are what they’re referring to):

That combined with konigstiger's info indicate the somebody is selling you BS.
I had similar situation when dealer butchered alignment on my 2003 wagon. I made them doing it again so after 4 days spend at dealer the wagon still had 4 front parameters in red. SA told me that they can't align it due bolts rust. I knew the car had no corrosion, beside some light spots, but the misalignment was minor, so I took the car. Later on I went under the car to confirm that the bolts in questions were spotless.
It is not easy situation to deal with, but I would request seeing the car on the jack and taking some pictures.

Well I've appealed to MBUSA's executive warranty people. Should hear back from them today. This has been such a smooth process from the beginning. This seems like a really stupid formality for them to hang this whole thing up on. It's been over a week . Of course...i'm driving a GLS450 loaner...so I'm not in a hurry.

Mercedes Executive Referral just called and they aren't going to cover it because of the age and mileage of the car. Not sure what other options I have. I guess I can just keep driving a car w/ a nice heavy fuel smell in the cabin. Seems safe.

What will not be covered? The exhaust removal, or whole tank job?

In order for them to replace my fuel tank, they need to replace the muffler which they claim has a damaged clamp that is part of the muffler assembly. If I want them to do the fuel tank, I have to pay $600 for a new muffler.

With the part number konigstiger provided, you can buy new clamp on the net and take it to the dealer, can't you?
Than my guts are telling the whole situation is bogus. Can you get under the car and take the pictures?

I'm trying to get the service advisor to send me a photo of the piece they are talking about. He didn't give me a part number or any more of a description.
