Just got a letter from MBUSA re: Tanks

We took our 2004 wagon in 10 days ago and were told we'd get the work done under warranty as of today the dealership has no ETA on when the parts will come from Germany.
We had a service done that was coming up and some other work that of course popped up from the service but had been told the parts would be in a week ago.
I emailed again today to ask if they had an update & was told "Unfortunately, at this time I do not. We are still waiting to hear back from Mercedes on the ETA. Typically, we are able to track them through the system however with the overwhelming demand since the recall was released, they are showing out of stock but have been arriving at random. It usually takes 7-10 business days, but this case might be different. As soon as I know, I will be sure to let y’all know what we are looking at."
We do have a loaner but kind of odd that inventory system would not be up to date.
Thanks.
Yes we have a loaner but not happy about car sitting idle at dealership & being responsible for loaner for an indefinite period of time or 6+ weeks or longer.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?
I called customer service and had some snotty woman (case manager) from Mercedes in NJ call to tell me the ETA & when I asked if I could speak to a regional manager she said she was the highest person I could speak with at the company & that even if I wrote the CEO I would have to deal with her.
Really?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
How far are you from Annapolis Maryland? The reason I asked you may want to consider trip. I had my 04 E320 done (2) weeks ago and provided with a loaner. Basically all parts were available and done in a day. Just a thought.[/U] PM me and to discuss. I can put you in touch with the Service Manager to look into this.

Thanks but far far away from Annapolis. It's interesting that some dealers have the parts and some do not.

Both cars are from Alabama, legally transferred to Canada.
Any ideas on which way to go?
No issues, but cars are hibernating now.
??

Pzev was a CA thing with some Northeast states adopting it also. I think depending on the year, more states may be included. It's a very good emissions warranty, too bad it wasn't well marketed.
stioned the fact
that there should've been a recall. Guess what everybody? As of January 2015, Mercedes finally recalled all W211 gas tanks because of cracking and leaking gasoline!!! They are installing a new tank today at NO CHARGE!!! And they are refunding me the $300 I paid for the O Ring! If you have a W211 and have had the same Gasoline smell inside your car, call your local dealership or service center and let them know that this is finally recalled and can hopefully be fixed! If you already paid for a new tank before January 2015, then there should be a full refund from Mercedes! I should be getting my car back today and will let you all know if the new tank fixes the problem. Good luck to everybody!
I didnt have so much luck today, they gave me a loaner and I paid 138$ for an initial check, then I was told my VIN falls under a list that doesnt apply to that extended warranty. I can only fill up the tank 3/4 of the way or it smells bad.. I had to call the regional MBUSA customer service so I could esscalate to corporate, because it needs to be done. 3450$ is what they quoted me at the dealer because the VIN is supposedly not part of the warranty. Cant wait til corporate calls me back monday and im gonna beg to get grandfathered in.

Get thw dealer to tell exactly why it is not covered.
Then build a case for goodwill coverage. (Safety, reputation, etc.)
