Driver side door - nothing works

New to MB, W211 and this E500 wagon:

First intermittently, later more and more and today: NOTHING on the driverside door works.

Pulled door panel off.
Searching the subject, a lot points towards the module (I think it is often called N69/1 Driver-side door control module (DCM-D). Part number is 211 820 15 85 02.

Before blindly jumping on 'new module':

a) Since intermittent, I kind of rule out 'fuse', but nevertheless certainly want to check. What fuse number? And: where is the box located (haven't googled yet).

b) which of the wires coming from the chassis to the door are supposed to carry power, which should be ground (easiest once to check/verify).

I checked the 'fat' wires, but non carries voltage (even with key-on).
What wires (from the ones coming from the chassis) carry voltage, which are ground?

wiring diagram

Showing wires going to the door needed.
Still trying to find which wires bring power and ground to the door to determine if broken wire or bad module.
Urgent help needed.

Thanks!

I found that red/black fat wire to module does NOT show +12V against its corresponding ground wire (brown), but DOES show against chassis ground.
Suspect ground wire of that black connector. No continuity to chassis ground. > bad ground.

I don't see/find where this ground wire terminates. But assume anyways that it is a broken cable (likely in the door hinge boot).

I will try to snake a new wire through the door hinge into the door, and find an accessible chassis ground in the footwell area.

Any tips, photos, suggestions much appreciate. Got the kickpanel off, footwell side panel, and air duct (and fuse cover) off. Still don't see much terminal block there (but then again, first time in an MB, so totally unfamiliar territory).

This is the ground wire (brown) that does not show continuity. Don't know (haven't found, and tough to trace) where it ends in the footwell.

"Luckily", it was "JUST" a standard wiring issue. If logic (network), I would have given up right away (don't have the diagnostic tools for MB).
Snaking a new wire through from the door through the door hinge bellow to the footwell (where it comes out at a terrible place in addition) was enough of a PITA.

Expected to find terminals (including grounds) down there, but didn't find any (seem to be stashed away even further up somewhere buried under the dash), so decided to 'make' my own chassis ground. Not sure if cosher, but all works now.

Attachment actually covers CAN connection locations, anyway
