I know this about tires: You can get a set of new Michelins, and you'll never worry or wonder about your tires again. Or you can get any other brand tire ... and always drive with doubt. Stick with Michelins.

I run the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos on a different car (E500) frequently at speed (135) with no issues. The tire is speed rated Y and feels good so far (about 8k miles). I'd like to try the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec for comparison. I don't agree that the sidewalls feel stiff, so I'd think your E550 would feel even less stiff. Maybe I am just timid, but I take the corners a bit slower than I probably would on PS2s or something.
