Ripped my seat (MB-Tex) - Options to fix?

I let a relative borrow my car while they were visiting and just realized that something in their pocket or on their jeans ripped the material. I've owned several mercedes with MB-Tex and never had this problem before, so I'm not quite sure what options exist to repair it without replacing the whole seat.

Anyone have any ideas?

My 2007 has worn in the same place though a little less in length. I'm searching around for a fix as well, mainly so it doesn't get worse. I'm interested to here what the forum members have to say. I've also had several MB over the years with MB Tex and *none* of them have been this easy to tear or wear as quickly.

Just search for local vinyl / upholstery repair shops in your area.

I'm aware that it's MB's implementation of Vinyl, but I wanted to see if there were better options than melting a piece of plastic on it with a hairdryer.

Thank you for the extremely helpful input, Honcho. You've just alerted the world to the biggest fraud of our time.

Of course there's a "better" option..... spend more money... buy a whole new seat

Your in a spot.
Drivers Seat.

On my W124 the backrest fabric is replaceable in its entirety from a donour.
Same goes for the seat cushion and the supporting cushion material.

You should be able to just buy the backrest cover and install it (my w203 had them replaced) or just fine a seat at a junk yard

Actually, a good vinyl repair shop can usually order the vinyl and sew in a panel on many brands of cars. That's a good place to start with your questions.

SEE IF YOU CAN FIND A LOCAL UPHOLSTERY PLACE THAT WILL INSTALL A NEW ONE, TO BE TRUTHFULLY HONEST IF YOU HAVE SOME HANDS ON SKILLS, CHANGING A SEAT BOTTOM CUSHION IS SIMPLE. MAY SEEM OVERWHELMING YOUR FIRST TIME BUT YOU CAN FOR SURE DO IT. I CAN SEND YOU DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO REMOVE SEAT BOTTOM CUSHION, AS WELL AS DISASSEMBLE OF SEAT COVER ON SEAT BOTTOM CUSHION....

I went to vindecoderz.com it's a website that decodes your vin and tells you what exactly your car has. I decoded mine and it told me I had mb tex-leather.

There's also epcnet from Mercedes and those russian vin decoders. Also on the W211, real leather will have ruffles in the door, mb Tex will be smooth. It's how you tell in the pictures if it has real leather or not.

I think the seat cover goes for 225?? Just buy it and replace it!
That's what I did with the W211 when the seat got ripped!
1-2 hour job with the help of a friend if I remember!

Iron Sheik,

Do you happen to know the part number for the seat cover because I could not find in that site www.oemdiscountparts.com.
Thanks.

I think it is number 6 as I can recall?

You can always give them a call, give them your vin# and they'll find the part for you while you're on the phone to make sure it fits your vehicle!
