Front License Plate for w211 e320 bluetec

Recently move to NJ. Cop pulled by wife over for no front licence plate. The DMV placement on the front window was insufficient. Just a warning this time.

The car was original a TX, then AZ where I purchased the car. I guess that the front plates are not necessary in AZ.

So I am looking for someone who has an extra front bracket.

Beside a bracket, your friendly MB stealer also offers bend license plate frames.
Those will look way better IMHO

The cop also said the rear bend license plate frames is not NJ legal. That was an easy fix of removing the frame. I just need to take care of the front. Will not be going to that town in the near future so I have time to look for a surplus bracket instead of going to the stealer.

Bend frames are for front.
You do know Murphy's law, don't you?

The frame that goes around the license are not legal in NJ if they cover any of the upper or low portion on the plate (New Jersey or Garden State).

Does anybody have an extra front bracket they want to sell?

License plate frames are not legal in most states. I am surprised at the car dealers that install these frames which they cover the license plates state.
Sorry I got off track!

I don't know what happened to the original, but I am still in the market instead of paying a to two hundred to the dealer for the front license bracket. Possible I will go for an aftermarket (non-OEM).

Instead of a frame, I used some nylon bushings (1/4" ID, 1/2" OD, 1/2" long) and beveled them to fit the bumper. It keeps the plate off the plastic bumper and looks clean.

Did you just drill into the bumper? 1/4" id that would be big holes in the bumper.

No. A #8 sheet metal screw is adequate, length depends on the bushing length.

There just the bumper without a hole and without visible bushing.
Is the bushing that you mentioned a completely external bushing?
I purchased a bent front bracket the matches the contour of the bumper.

My Maxima had plastic expansion plug in the bumper for the license bracket. That made the bumper really ugly when the bracket was removed. Filled and repainted the large holes in the bumper.

Yes, just small bushings that are pretty much invisible behind the holes in the license plate to hold the plate away from the bumper. There are now holes in the bumper for the screws, but my view on that is that it's my car right now to do with as I choose and license plates are a necessary thing. If the next owner wants to do something different, they can. Or not.

How deep into the bumper should the screw go? Is it styrofoam under the plastic bumper cover?
