I have an 06 e350 base. I'm trying to install a new stereo but I've never seen these plugs before can I order an adapter or would I have to hard wire? Can anyone provide me with any help to hook up these two plugs ( my car to new stereo ) I know where to acquire the dash kit but the wiring is throwing me off. also what would I have to do in order for my steering wheel controls to work? any help appreciated thanks in advance.

Are you talking about installing an aftermarket stereo? If so, it's not as simple as on most other cars. In a nutshell, the factory COMAND uses a fiber-optic connection and CANBUS to communicate. Aside from the Opti-1, it's not possible to adapt an aftermarket head unit to the existing factory audio system.
You basically have two options:
1) Replace the factory amp, run wiring for the headunit, new amp(s) and speakers. Afterwards, chances are you're going to blow some speakers shortly thereafter. You can replace the speakers at the same time, or when they blow.
2) Purchase the NAV-TV Opti-1 module, plug it into your new head unit, run power/Acc wires to the head unit, antenna adapter & extension cable to the trunk, steering wheel control module (if you want it) and you're done.
