2005 E500 SEDAN
Replace center dash speaker 2005 E500 W/211
Steps with pictures on changing the little speaker on top center dash. Cost was $100 for speaker and $12 for the 12 Pcs Car Auto Door Trim Panel Dash Stereo Radio Audio Removal Pry Tools Kit purchased online. Total cost $112 dollars and took about 15 minutes tops. All pics included. SUPER EASY job.
DO NOT use screw drivers to pry up the speaker cover, get the trim/panel removal tools
1) Put pry tool in at approx the 2 o’clock position, insert and pry up. Get fingers in and pull up, takes some pressure, but the clips will pop out (see pics on insert of tool). Use more than one pry tool if needed to get finger under.
2) Unscrew the two torx screws (I think they are size 20) to remove speaker. Use ratchet attachments, not much room for screwdriver due to windshield angle.
3) Simply unplug speaker connection, this connection is not a special clip, just pull straight out to remove from speaker
4) Basically plug new speaker in, screw back down, then replace the cover. When replacing cover, start by getting the clips started at the side of the cover closest to you. May need to flex it a bit, once in, then start to firmly bump it down with palm of hand to snap the clips back into place, work your way back to the windshield side
