Best Tires, '08 E-350 Sport, Daily Driver

Time for new shoes.

Had Michelins from when iot was CPOed in early '10, and put on a set of Nitto Motivo in late '13.

They started smooth and quiet, but I think they got nosier then the previous set.

What is the current thinking on tires?

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, 4Matic

I'm hoping to just do tires.
I had the wheels straitened and powder coated last time. They are not great, but really don't want to drop in another chunk of change unless one is really bad.

I used to buy the General UHPs. Pretty decent performance, much better tread life than Pirellis or Michelins, and a lot better price.

I've got the Michelin Pilot sport A/S 3 on my car. They seem to be fine. It's basically those or the Continental DWS which seem to be popular. The P7's seem to be on closeout on Tirerack so for $89 a tire, you can let us know how they are.

Mine has Continental DSW. I had these tires on a Subaru Spec B as well. One of my favorite tires from a tread perspective. They do however seem to have weak sidewalls.

I'm a big fan of the Nitto Motivo and Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2. They both offer excellent performance for the price, although I've noticed Nittos tend to wear a little quicker. But both have that characteristic that they get noisy when they wear down. To me, it's become a built-in indicator when it's time for new rubber.

I'm not sure of the Nitto, but the Hankook V12's have the weight rating to handle the W211's weight. If money is not an object, check out the Michellin Pilot Sport P2.

Yes, the price caught my eye, but some reviews so the P7 as noisy.
and THAT will be an issue. (Wife's daily driver)

Most people here would suggest the Continentials or the Michelin A/S 3. Both tires are incredibly good, I'd say the Michelins handle better but the Continentials rides a little better.

The p7's so far have been great on my car but probably only have 5-10k on them.

Well I ordered the tires. $416 shipped and will cost me about $20 each to install.
There is a $60 rebate so as long as my wheels are strait, I am out about $436 total.

The Sentury's don't come in the size I need.

Continental DWS06

Yesterday I replaced two rears 275-30-19's (Coopers which I was forced to install on the rears on my 3000mile journey from NJ to WA early last year) with Continental DWS06, a first time move away from Michelin which just did not seem to last long in the rears with a lowered suspension and camber required to avoid rubbing. Nothing against Michelin but the Conti's seem quieter though its too early to provide an honest review.

245-35-19's in the front are still Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (installed Sept/2015) and are wearing well with lots of tread left; hopefully I can get at least another 6 months out of them.

Are you still running A/S 3 on the front? I have 245-40-18 A/S 3 on the front. This tire is making very loud noise after 15k miles and still have a lot of thread left.

Did you rotate them? I got about 30k out of mine and rotated them. The fronts ended up falling apart on the inner belts, they were flaking off, the outsides of the tires had about 5/32's left. The new ones are A/S 3 Plus which is supposed to be better in the snow.

I'm done with A/S 3 tires, they became noisy and wore out quickly. Replaced them a couple of weeks later with Contis, see my signature.

I just recently picked up an 08' E350,
just noticed that my front tires are 245 40 18 and the back are 265 35 18. Does this seem odd, it does to me?

I think that's correct, you have RWD. The 4matic just had 245/40/18's on all 4, rwd had staggered. Only drawback is that because you can't rotate them, they wear out twice as quick.

Seems odd to have a smaller tire in the rear on a RWD car?

245/40 in the front, 265/35 in the rear.

The tire in the rear is not smaller, the sidewall is not as tall as in the front, which is typical on staggered wheels.

I am running 235/40 R18 in the front, 255/35 R18 in the rear. Same on my wife's BMW.

Look above on "pinebarons" signature, same on his car, but as he is running 19" inch wheels, he has to go even smaller on his sidewall height:
245/35 R19 front
275/30 R19 rear

As far as I am concerned, your set up is all good and what it is suppose to be.

My rear A/S 3 worn out at 18K miles and got prorate/refund from costco $117 out of $505 rear set. I'm ok with that and bought new set A/S 3 again for the rear, but the front it's just too noisy even though i think i can drive another 15k miles.
I spent a lot of time reading on tire rack.com and will definitely replace with Contis DW very soon if it's still available.
