My Dealer Called Today....
to tell me our car will be here in the states on the 16th 
How long do you think the car will take to get in my dealers hands (so.cal to no.cal) and how long does dealer prep usually take... He told my wife that we should be driving it by the end of the month.

I think they take about 3-5 days at the UPC and then ship. Should only take 1 or 2 days to get to me or you depending on how many stops they make. Good luck! I may hire Steve from the Netherlands to install the folding side view mirrors. If he does come to NoCal, I'll let you know.

MY DEPOSIT ON 7/2/03 RESULTED IN A BUILD DATE OF 2/4/04 AND ARRIVAL IN BALTIMORE 3/1/04. DEALER CALLED TODAY
3/5 TO SAY I CAN PICK IT UP ON 3/7/04 FROM MY DEALER OUTSIDE PHILLY. SO TIME FRAME SHOULD BE A HELP TO YOU.

whoa, let me get this straight, it took 8 months from deposit to delivery? was there a particular reason it took your car that long?
how long after your deposit did you find out when the build date is?

Need to clarify...I believe I was actually the longest wait...11/24/02 to 11/24/03 (1 yr) from deposit to car. Primarily due to Navi fiasco, and switching dealers in the middle since as the price dropped on the car, the first dealer would not adjust the deal....in the end got a great deal from MarcusBenz...

deposit placed 7/03. dealer stated wait would be long due to allotment already pre-sold to customers waiting for e class 4matics. remember, they were not available on 03's thus creating demand. i was told i could expect an early january delivery, but then got pushed back further and further. i was given build date
in early january. build date was 2/04 in germany and then shipped to austria for 4matic conversion. car was on boat and shipped to usa for early march delivery. have had car for 3 weeks + and just hit 1300 miles. breakin is now complete, no problems except wood wheel installed by dealer didnt match at all!! dealer brought in 5 wheels from around usa and we found a good match.
so far so good, but while car is awesome in fit , finish, hi-tech goodies, engineering, etc,.........i find it a lil boring compared to my old tossable, almost as fast 95 c36 amg i traded in. maybe im just not used to e class vs c class size, but i feel im driving a yacht as compared to old speed boat................could have worse problems, ya know!!! maybe long wait just left experience a lil anticlimatic.................
