New (211)E55 AMG Delivery date?
Dealer couldn't tell m when delivery would be, I'm first on the list, does anyone know of a whisper time range for the first new E55 AMG's to be delivered?
Also, is there some problem with the AMG compressor engine?
I think MB wants to let the new E shine on its own for a while without distracting the Auto media, and customers, with an AMG-Super sedan. My opinion.
Cool... I'm from Vancouver too and I've placed an order on the W211 AMG in February. Which dealer did you go to? I went to the one in Burnaby. My dealer cannot give me a delivery date except they said it will be near 2004.

SCENARIO: Lets say you are number 4 on the list. The 4th car comes in. Do you have to buy it regardless of color and options installed? Are you buying in the blind? Or do you get to order with the color and options you want. Very Curious. Thanks.

I also ordered mine from Burnaby. The rep also could not give me a delivery date except to say at least a 2 year wait! I took a used '99 E55 for a spin as well, I was extremely impressed with that car. I cannot even imagine what the new machine will be like.
E55 Kev,
The waiting list process works on MB determined build date. They will contact the dealer approximately 3 months prior to the delivery date and the dealer will proceed by taking the order of the options with the customer.
For me the wait list has worked that you get to order the car at MSRP, with the options you want.
BTW, kev or gelvir have you been to the new Mercedes of Alexandria? It is a spin-off of ASC. I have yet to go there, but plan on checking it out soon. I want to see if their list for SL55 is short since it is new dealer.
For my dealer, since the shipment of W211 E55 is such a long time away, they told me to first put a $1000 deposit at this moment. Then a few months down the road when they get more info on the E55 they will ask for more deposit (say around $5000 to $6000 CAD) to show that you really have the intention to buy the car. At that time since they have more info, they will allow you to choose whatever colors and options you want. I believe what's important is not whether they have the actual car on delivery, but instead it's whether the dealer has an allocation of E55 order reserved for you. Because these orders should be sent BEFORE they actually build the car and each MB dealer only has a few allocations.
Nav,
I don't know why my sales rep didn't tell me which number i'm at but hopefully since I ordered earlier i would be one of the first three. The only thing that my sales rep guaranteed was that I will receive my car in the first shipment of W211 E55. Unfortunately I didn't test drive the used E55, I don't think it was at the dealer when I went there a couple months ago. But i sure believe it was one sweet ride... :p
