New (211)E55 AMG Delivery date?
Just took my S600 in for oil service. Stopped by sales office to find out order status on E AMG (211) I have had on order since it was a rumor.
Dealer couldn't tell m when delivery would be, I'm first on the list, does anyone know of a whisper time range for the first new E55 AMG's to be delivered?
Also, is there some problem with the AMG compressor engine?

I am also high on the list for an AMG W211. After discussing with my sales rep several times, I have two scenarios 1)release to press/Europe in July/August 2002 with release in USA market, Nov-Dec 2002. And 2) release in Europe Sept-Oct 2002, USA March 2003.
I think MB wants to let the new E shine on its own for a while without distracting the Auto media, and customers, with an AMG-Super sedan. My opinion.

I just put a deposit on an E55 here in Vancouver. I am 4th in line to receive one. The sales rep estimates delivery not less than 2 years from now! It will be a an excruciating wait!

Hey Nav,
Cool... I'm from Vancouver too and I've placed an order on the W211 AMG in February. Which dealer did you go to? I went to the one in Burnaby. My dealer cannot give me a delivery date except they said it will be near 2004.

How does this work for you guys on the W211 E55 waiting list?
SCENARIO: Lets say you are number 4 on the list. The 4th car comes in. Do you have to buy it regardless of color and options installed? Are you buying in the blind? Or do you get to order with the color and options you want. Very Curious. Thanks.

About a year ago I placed an order for the CLK55 Convertible and the W211 E55. The dealer never told me for sure what was my number on the list and what they did is called me when they had a CLK55 conv that someone had cancelled. The problem with this is that you don't get to build your car and you are pretty much forced to accept their offer on the spot. Actually I ended up cancelling the order for the CLK. For the W211 E55, I hope it would be a different story, this car for sure I am probably one of the first ones on their list since I placed my name on the list a year ago. I hope they don't call me when the car is already here! Also, depending on the dealership there's a deposit which is refundable if you decide to cancel the order or the deposit goes towards your purchase. I see you are in the DC area, so if you go to HBL you would need a $1000 deposit (it used to be $500 a couple of months ago!) and last time I checked EuroMotors required a $2000 and American Service Center I believe they also require a $1000 (not very sure on this one). Hope this helps

Hi cf777,
I also ordered mine from Burnaby. The rep also could not give me a delivery date except to say at least a 2 year wait! I took a used '99 E55 for a spin as well, I was extremely impressed with that car. I cannot even imagine what the new machine will be like.
E55 Kev,
The waiting list process works on MB determined build date. They will contact the dealer approximately 3 months prior to the delivery date and the dealer will proceed by taking the order of the options with the customer.

Kev,
For me the wait list has worked that you get to order the car at MSRP, with the options you want.
BTW, kev or gelvir have you been to the new Mercedes of Alexandria? It is a spin-off of ASC. I have yet to go there, but plan on checking it out soon. I want to see if their list for SL55 is short since it is new dealer.

Kev,
For my dealer, since the shipment of W211 E55 is such a long time away, they told me to first put a $1000 deposit at this moment. Then a few months down the road when they get more info on the E55 they will ask for more deposit (say around $5000 to $6000 CAD) to show that you really have the intention to buy the car. At that time since they have more info, they will allow you to choose whatever colors and options you want. I believe what's important is not whether they have the actual car on delivery, but instead it's whether the dealer has an allocation of E55 order reserved for you. Because these orders should be sent BEFORE they actually build the car and each MB dealer only has a few allocations.
Nav,
I don't know why my sales rep didn't tell me which number i'm at but hopefully since I ordered earlier i would be one of the first three. The only thing that my sales rep guaranteed was that I will receive my car in the first shipment of W211 E55. Unfortunately I didn't test drive the used E55, I don't think it was at the dealer when I went there a couple months ago. But i sure believe it was one sweet ride... :p

hmrdwn, I saw the ad for it while at ACS on Glebe Road. I though that it was just going to be a place for repairs and parts. I have not been there yet. So the new location has new car sales and a showroom? If so, I doubt that the availability will be different for the SL because it is an really an annex of ASC.

hmrdwn, E55 KEV...I also got the ad for the new ASC location and haven't had the time to stop by. I also believe this location will only be an extension of Arlington's ASC, so a different list for SL55 might be unlikely, but who knows!!!

I placed my order with an Australian based factory owned dealership approx 6 months ago. Mine was the first ordered by the dealership and I have been told to expect a March/April 2003 delivery.
