I am a little confused. Did you replace the auxiliary battery or only the main battery in the rear?

If your aux battery is 12 years old, it may be time to change it as well. I suggest you do that. The cars rely on a strong electronic/battery system, and if your battery is 12 years old, you certainly have gotten your value out of it.

If you have already replaced the main one, I suggest you also replace the auxiliary one under the hood. The message you are getting often arises when the aux battery is giving out/not holding a charge properly.

Convenience Function Unavailable!

I get this mention on my 2005 SL500 MBZ for about 16 to 20 minutes of starting the car!....After the 15 to 20 minutes I guess it charges it up, whatever the problem is?......This is not normal to be with convenience functions for 20 or so minutes every time, right?....Can anyone out there tell me what the problem may be?....

Also, I was told that I might want to look into an Isolator Battery to prevent the auxiliary battery from drawing too much power?.....Someone please give some directions and advice on how to resolve this problem "Convenience Functions Currently Unavailable"????

You should check the condition of the auxiliary battery under the hood and probably be ready to change it out. You may well still have the original, and if you got 12 years out of it, you did well. The changeout is really simple. It is about the size of a lawn mower/motorcycle battery.

Can't help you on the isolator part. You may not need anything like that if your battery is simply old and worn out.

Auxilary Battery

My Auxiliary Battery is only 4 years old!.....I do not want to spend another $200 for one again!.....Are you sure it is that battery?.....The convenience functions goes away after driving it around 20 minutes or so!...I have a sub woofer and amp in the trunk of my car running the stereo system!....That is why I mentioned a ISO Battery!.....I also have a blinking parking light problem!....The passenger side parking light flickers on and off, then stays off completely, but sometimes comes back on, do you know what that can be!...Not the bulb neither!!
