What asking price should I consider?
In addition to the equipment in my signature,
I'm in no particular hurry to sell but am finding huge range in asking prices but only one with equivalent mileage at $19K. That car has fewer options. Their asking price seems high.
Thanks for the input.
- 60,000 miles
- original owner
- clean Carfax
- MB car cover
- MB rear seat cover
- new Michelin A/S Premier tires
- no dings, dents, etc.
- after warranty service, maintenance at Porsche dealer

On my local CL there are some with salvage/rebuilt titles and they're all asking between $8k-$12k. A couple have just over 60,000 on them.

60k is certainly low mileage, but at the end of the day you're still talking about a 13 year old car. If you can get $8-10k for it I would say you did real good. I paid $5k for my 2003 E500 last November in very good shape with 86k miles and similar options. Best of luck with sale.

Wow guys...thanks for the comps. Looked at NADA Classics and saw one with 29K miles for $23,000. And another one at a Mitsubishi dealer coming up with 22K mi. I don't think the car is a "classic" at this point though.

Nadaguide is a bit more generous, says anywhere from 8 to 13.5k which is retail. As you're private party consider yourself lucky if you can get between 9-11k. Lots of times the best you ever get from a dealer is rough trade in which is 8k if that.
Here's what black book says:
Basically retail is anywhere from 8-12k, trade in is anywhere from 4-9k.

Selling a car is big hassle and Craigslist is not the best place.
Beside Nigerian scammers, you will get lot of tire kickers who will not hesitate to offer you 4 grands for the car.
I usually buy higher mileage cars and sell via ebay with $1 starting/no reserve.
Price is lower on ebay, but saves lot of my time and nerves.

Close, but that's gas, not diesel.

Doesn't matter - just shows you what kind of W211 you can get for 10k. That car is two years newer and has a V8. Shoot, a few more thousand and you could be driving an E55.

Compare W210 pricing.
Originally back in 1998 diesel option was the cheapest from engine choices, while E55 AMG was $15k higher in price.
20 years later for 1 diesel model you can buy 2 or maybe even 3 of E55 from the year.

It sold.
I ended up listing on Autotrader and had over 60 inquires from across the country. It sold in a week to an out of state buyer who had it transported to the northeast for $12,500. I could have hung on for more but my new car was on its way. The diesel demand is crazy!

I understand that OP was considering sale like 18 months ago, but finally put it on the market last month?
That could be good timing as with SBC extended warranty, those cars gained lot of appreciation.
Waiting for picture of new replacement?

Found my replacement at Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach, CA. Mostly a great experience. Exactly the car I was looking for (Premium 3, most options, Designo Cardinal Red)and had it shipped to Tampa in enclosed transport.
Immediately removed the brand new run flats and refitted with Michelan Premier A/S tires. Great ride!
