O.E Tune For 2007 E550 4Matic

i decided to pull the trigger for this tune. Honestly i looked at a few E55 AMG’s and E63’s and in my budget they were trash felt sorry for those cars how prior owners just abused them. So i said to myself my car is fairly clean, runs good, why not. Right now all i have is high flow filters nothing special but im also gonna do muffler delete looked at a few vids and it sounds just right not looking for loud. Hoping with O.E Tune, High Flow filters, mufflr delete if i can pull 420hp at the crank im happy. Car is suprisingly fast as it is now. Ill keep you guys posted how it goes.

Headers are also a good option and can add up to 30 HP. The stock exhaust manifolds are supposedly very restrictive.

Ill for sure start looking into heades, i live in cali so smog is a pain here. Im hoping to keep the car for a couple of more years and just upgrade later to a 2012+E63.

When I tuned my 07 550, only difference I could feel was the powerband, not the actual +20hp. Muffler delete + jpipe is a good way to go too.

Thanks for the response, i really want a muffler delete seen some youtube vids and it sounds really awesome. Im doing this to get me by for a couple of years. Figured if i can get a tad more power and my car looks clean enough i can just wait longer for the car i really want. Really want to save for a 2012+ E63. I've heard good things about tuning this car, with a little luck i hope mine goes well and makes a difference, will see. Ill keep you guys posted and do a small write up on it atleast from my perspective. I've seen a few threads on this so not gonna bore anyone.

A 5.5 n/a tune should only run you like 300-400$ anyways so not a whole lot to regret if you don't like it. But instead of an e63 you could always try out the newer 550 like me with the 4.7 biturbo. A simple tune on that will smoke the old or be on par with 6.2 amg and get you can close to stock 5.5 biturbo.

Sell it and use the money for a down-payment on an AMG if you're unhappy with the speed. I really don't think the transfer case was made for power (even stock)... If you ruin it, it will cost you $6,000+. They're hard to find, majority are used and not the "recall-free" model, and hard to install.

I also have a E550 4Matic I use as a daily (custom x-pipe, muffler delete, lowered airmatic, etc.). Transfer case was replaced even though it was the post-recall model (completely failed on me).

Fun car but transfer case adds too much weight in the front, steering ratio doesn't respond well until higher speeds (electronically adjusted), and is another German car not meant to last over 100K.

Don't waste your time, build some credit

I installed the tune and drove just a few miles maybe 5-6 miles. I would have to come back after a few days to give a conclusion since ive heard it takes time for your car to get use to it.

Felt the gas pedal at even 5% throttle being slightly heavy, nothing major. I did not feel a big difference in throttle response, but it was noticable.

As far as power is concerned and this may be pre mature for me to give any thoughts on it, nothing to say i definitly feel a difference. There use to be a slight kick in the pants acceration at 4k rpms before. I dont feel that as we speak anymore, maybe because the mid range has been beefed up and its masked that slight kick of power at 4k rpms.

Off the line there is a noticable difference then before and it will accelerate harder and chirp the tires get that slight lag because cars weight or needs more power and then goes. Its for sure quicker off the line. Only thing i noticed getting out of the car after turning it off is crackling sounds coming from my exhaust never heard it before small popping sounds.
This isn’t a car im looking to keep for a long time but hopefully another 6-8 months i can get into a E63 or E55. For now this is a great car has its quirks but i cant expect much from a car with 160k, lol.
