Front suspension Squeaking sound on e320, W211

My 2004 MBZ E320 every time I run over a bump at low speed I get a squeaking noise from the front suspension. Any idea of which component is the culprit?

more than likely a worn lower ball joint.. just a guess without seeing under the car though. Usually the boots on the ball joints can tear or split and this allows water and dirt/dust inside which can damage the joint and wash out all of the grease.

I get a squeak as well from the left front when its really cold. When warm, its doesn't do it.

Weird.

Yeah I get that too on my e500. I'm wondering if mine is the bushings in the upper control arms. I really had to push on them to switch out my front struts this spring. Mine seems to do it on both sides and it's only on what I consider "sharp" bumps. It really doesn't do it on smoother bumps.

I have the same squeak at low speeds like over speed bumps but I am aware the the 4matic front suspension for w211 is different I was thinking either anti roll bar or shocks?

any ideas thanks

Lower control arms, those big bushing can make quite a loud squeak on up/down movement. We did one of those new arms with the bushings already installed setups - much easier since I don't have a bearing tool that can remove/insert those. Squeak gone - we did this on our 2003 E320 late this last summer. We did both sides but only the right side was squeaking bad but both side had worn bushings.

Thanks for the reply, and when you remove the lower control arm to changed the bushings or the whole arm, do you have to get the car re aligned?

Yes, we had it aligned at the dealer for one hour of service. I don't mind paying for them to use that insanely expensive setup they use to align with given how much I am saving with DYI on almost everything else - every alignment we have gotten from the dealer has been perfect. (knock on wood)

Hey, I have inspected all of my new out of the box suspension joints. (not OEM) Flipped off the boots and none have grease inside. Does anybody have any insight to this? Do genuine Mercedes bal joinsl contain grease?
