I do not believe it needs to be activated by the dealer. All you need to do is find the proper menu function and enable it. It is probably under the audio settings menu.
The only difference I can think of is that in your country it has been disabled for some reason. But I have not encountered this.

Explanation Please - Audio 20 RDS
I also own a CLK 240 (W209) with Audio 20 and also dont have RDS turned on.
I live in Australia / Sydney and yes, we have RDS on all our radio stations.
My other friends who also own W209 have RDS turned on.
They see radio station names etc via the head unit and instrument cluster.
They also have audio 20.
My doesnt, and went through every single option including holding down cdc etc or even radio and no additional options.
There is no option to switch it on...
Can someone please confirm if there are hidden settings on an Audio 20
or is it a firmware upgrade from MB Service ???
Please help, alot of people here on the forum have the same problem with NO explaination.
For additional info, mine is 2004 Dec built and delivered in 05 if that makes any difference...
Any info will be appreciated.

Hi there,
I am in Hong Kong and has the Audio 20 too.
Mine can actually automatically switch frequency for the same station when going through different zreas, but it does not have the RDS menu nor does it display station names. All it does is change frquency automatically when it goes through a tunnel for example.
When I read the Audio 20 owners manual I do see that the RDS function has an *asterisk mark on it, meaning that it is an option. Could that be the answer? Still is there any ways that we can get it to work?
Thnaks,
Richard
