The Feature(s) you can live without..

I was just interested in knowing if there are any features that you ordered but now feel that you could live without?! Its part of my marketing class and so I chose this topic in relation to consumer dissonance..

God knows, I *****ed and moaned about NAV when I did not have it, but what can I say, I might as well not have it as the MB implementation sucks.

Everything else, I am happy with.

The NAV isn't accurate in some instances. One time I was looking for a Wamu, but never found it. Maybe I need a more current NAV DVD? I could also do without the sunshades.

The NAV isn't accurate in some instances.
My street is not on the NAV DVD. A non-existent town is listed north of where I live. The NAV system seems to be fine, but the data available on the DVD is poor. However, aviation databases I have worked with are not much better. When I made my Tele Aid get acquainted call, they knew exactly where I was (at my house). Tele Aid will provide driving directions and a lot more for about the same price as annual updates to the NAV DVD.

I didn't want the side window shades, but they were part of a package.

4-zone A/C is nice, but I could certainly live without it.

Dynamic driving seats are a novelty and could certainly be done without.

All the other options are Big Boys Toys (necessary because I want them).

I bought my car off the lot so I didn't choose the options but I would leave off parktronic if I did it over again. I know a lot of people like that feature but I seldom pay attention to it. Have fun with your class.

Out of everything that I ordered, I could of done easily without the heated steering wheel. I also didn't order the sunroof package simply because I didn't want the rear/side sunshades.

Re: The Feature(s) you can live without..

Sunroof
GPS
CD Changer
Ventilated/massage Seat
Premium Stereo
Wood Steering
Rear window shade
Leather interior (standard is leather insert ???).

Put it this way, I haven't found a way/need to ultilize any of the extra feature that I ordered: most of my commute are in stop-and-go traffic, have no need for GPS use, only listen to AM (not really care for the premium audio), wood steering doesn't make that big deal to me now.

The only thing that I added after ward, and feel totaly worthy: sport wheels !!! Yea, it enhance the look & handling of my car, a lot !!!!

I could live without the whole car, if you want to go that far

This car isnt the same without the bells and whistles. For me, thats why I bought it. None of the stuff is necessary, besides the tires, steering wheel, maybe the windshield.. as mentioned, half of these things are novelty, but the car is somewhat of a novelty (for most of the population).

Navi does suck *in comparisson* to whats available. You can not manually enter a store you are looking for, for example, "Office Max," and search for the nearest one (as I could in my M3). and you can not see the F***ing street names unless you are all the way zoomed in. I'd still get it again, at 1200 bucks.

Ahh but it still didn't cost us poor sots of the original 2003 cars 1200--we got a splendid deal at either 1600 or 1699. I forget what the exact number was.

The NAV maps are so poor that houses built for two years don't show. There's really no point in using it if you live in a erlatively new development. Also, for me, the damn thing had issues from the get go. In times of extreme need, I would get a blank screen resulting in NO COMAND functions. This happened to me once in the middle of New Jersey and I had NO idea where the heck I was. And guess what, I couldn't use TeleAid either--everything was just off.

Finally took the car in to the dealer and they replaced the instrument cluster. Go figure.

The features I don't miss are the ones I didn't get. I believe I like what I chose, and no need to second guess. Monday morning quarterbacking never does good.

The feature we love the most are the heated seats. They are great on cold days (and sometimes the day after hard workouts when our backs are a little sore )

The wife is going to insist on butt heaters from here on out on every car we get...
