Just got my MP3 upgrade!
Hust? Well. Yes, finally here. The dealer called me 40 minutes ago, and told me the upgrade was there. Ran a 7 minute process, and there it was. Full MP3 compatibility in the DVD drive. Now I have to burn me a full DVD (Yes Apollo, will revert with result).

Brilliant news. Is it a simple upgrade, or did you have to buy a new DVD player?
If it is a software upgrade, is there a date or reference number that I can quote please?

Please burn 40+ folders with album in each and let me know if u can read them all.

What's burning software do you use, Nero? How do you organize your songs? genre-year-artist-album? Can you create play lists? Does it continue to play from last stop point? What's next song is playing after current folder finishing?

But have u managed to fill a dvd and have all the songs available. I can only use about the first third of the songs on a DVD, the unit will not see any over that. I have folders on the DVD that are the album names, so u then have the album and song in the display on the Comand unit (dash will only show song, but that is great anyway).

You cannot buy this CD. It is only for dealers. But ask them to order the following "tool": W 211 589 06 22 00.
That is the partnbr. for internal use. The CDC will be there after the upgrade.
I think your car will benefit from the upgrade. My car was produced last week in September 03, and therefore a MY2004.

My service mgr says that it is on back order in UK. Don't understand why as it is not that difficult to mass produce cd's, unless they are releasing gradually in case of bugs.

They ordered the "Service-CD" today and it should be here on Tuesday. So I will keep you up too date

To be honest (this is more or less a qualified guess); Yes. :p
That's what I would have done. In Germany, MP3 is a very popular format and if you have to retrofit your own MP3 player in your car, then the car ain't worth buying (as far as the mentality of the general public). Correct me if I'm wrong ...

Man!! I am jealous!! does it only work w/ the 2004 DVD player system? I have a 2003 model. can I upgrade to play MP3 also??
