W211 Random Overheating
Good day all,
I have a 2009 W211 E320 CDi with overheating issues. This only occurs in slow traffic and I noticed the fan not switching on.
Temp goes up to 100 degrees and more sometimes.
Thermostat already replaced.
Any suggestions where I can look for fault?
Where is the coolant fan switch located on OM642 engine?

Not yet. I spoke to an auto electrician yesterday and he was not very helpful.
Clearly out to make money from me.
I guess this would be the right way of finding the fault.
I am DIY and just thought I could fix it myself.

Had the car scanned and fault is the coolant fan switch.
He could however not tell me where to find the switch on the engine.
Anyone out there to point me in a direction where on the engine this is located?
OM642 engine.

I don't think you will find switch.
Those engines have sophisticated control modules that take signal from temp sensor and process it via logic system.
My OM642 has no thermostat. It is electro-valve controlled by module.
Advanced scanner will have testing program, where you can turn the fan on and test modules.
