new E500-$matic....
Hi all,
Just fyi - I picked up a new E500 4Matic yesterday (build date 4/12/04). Just wanted to tell everyone that none of the de-contenting was present in the car. It had all the items reported missing from latter built E Classes. Cooled center storage, entrance lamps, rubber mat in ashtray, color band, etc. It was all there. So it seems its hit or miss with the de-contenting for 2004s. Just wanted everyone to know.

FYI, the 4matic E is built in a different plant (in a different country - Austria) than the standard E which is built in Sindelfingen outside of Stuttgart.
When I picked up our 4matic at the factory in April the Austria plant had not yet converted to the new ceramic (nano) paint; what is your color code? If it is prefaced with a C (as in C744 vs 744) than you have the new clear coat.

Great! You'll love the color. I think its a bit different form the usual silver (although silver is awesome as well). I opted for the stonee interior. Very light, but shows off the details well. Enjoying the little details now. Very happy thus far.

Congrats!! I'm looking to do the same although I'm getting the run around from my dealer I think. Curious about the type of discount you got and if leasing, the money factor charged, if you don't mind me asking.

$2400 off, eddie? Was this at Herb Chambers and was it on the lot or an order? We paid sticker basically. Congrats on your car too! It's great isn't it?

onpaws, it's very strange that your car was decontented. My E500 was built in May and was sitting at the Mercedes import yard in Baltimore when I found it and had it sent to Chambers. It wasn't exactly what I asked for, but it had everything I really wanted (COMAND, Panorama, etc) and I heard the 05's were decontented so I went for it.
For the price, most dealerships would be unlikely to sell a car for less than $1k under sticker. As for me all I can say is that Herb's largest boat (Excellence III) is docked by my house in the Caribbean.

Haha it's very interesting. I am sure it is missing the items. Well it seems like it is really luck of the draw, very peculiar. =) Our E500 hasn't been the luckiest so far. Right now I'm driving a loaner car, sigh =*(
I saw Herb drive away in his Maybach from Chambers the other day, with license plate US-1 haha, my mother was an acquitance of his, way back before his empire started.

oh btw, how do you like the E500 4matic over that C32?? Initial impressions of one over the other, advantages/disadvantages?
