25 year warranty extension on SBC

I sold my W211 E320, as I moved to a W221 S550, but received a letter from MB today stating that the SBC will be warranted for 25 years on W211 E Class models 2003-2006.

Thought this was important to you guys and was wondering if anyone else received the same letter?

Sensotronic Brake Control, it is your electro-hydraulic brake system in your car.

It doesn't apply to your car.

I figured that, but was curious anyways. I was wondering what would have a 25 year warranty?

A brake system that performs magnificently well when it does what it is meant to but fails woefully when it doesn't. Brake By Wire braking systems. Mercedes is (in my opinion) trying to avoid an outright recall/redesign/replacement of the SBC system by stepping up and fixing what maybe ought not have made it out of the engineer's pages. In 25 years most of these cars will be timed out in other manners than the brakes.

This is a great news for me and I just had my car SBC fixed at the dealer today knowing this extended warranty.
I had this visit workshop warning came up about 6 months ago and found the part itself is $1200 + labor, and dealer is quoting $2200. My car (2004 E320) doesn't even cost more than that, lol. Anyway I just sat on it hoping for cheaper solution while I was saving money for this. My mechanic told me that I can keep driving and advised me to change when the sign flashes red so I was.
Now it's fixed and all, I have a question.

BTW, what does SBC do? if this fails, would car not stop?
