Upgrading the sound system in E class
Can I add a new headunit and still keep my command? I really do not want to destroy the stock look of the car but the sound system is killing me.
A couple of users have done an upgrade, including just replacing the subwoofer and couple of other speakers for a tremendous improvement in sound.
Do you have the Harmon Kardon system? I upgraded the subwoofer as the bass is really lacking in MB system. It made a HUGE improvement in sound.
My car is a lease, so I wanted a solution that would be easy to take out, and not leave much of a mark that it had been there.
I also just added the OEM Sirius satellite radio last week, and that's another highly recommended upgrade. The antenna is installed under the rear deck, NOT drilled onto the top of the trunk like MB instructs their dealers to do.

I don't see why not. Does your system have a subwoofer on the rear deck?
if it does do they have to disconnect that one?
All my installer did was tap into the line from the stock sub, put in a high/lo converter, and send that to the new JLAudio amp. Then from there on to the sub. The battery is actually in the back trunk anyway, so running power was a breeze.
I know this might sound dumb, but how do I know if I have a stock sub woofer? Car '05 e320 cdi, with command/nav/in dash cd changer
I live in So. San Francisco (near Daly City), and work in Menlo Park. You're welcome to come check it out at anytime.
Kyee,
Will you be at work in Menlo on this Friday? I have a meeting in our Mountainview office at 10:00 am. Perhaps I could swing by afterwards on my way back to our other office. The meeting shouldn't be more than a couple of hours.
Thanks,
Mike

Look under the rear deck with your trunk open - you will see a single 12" sub (pancake thin) mounted in the rear deck.
I assume you tap into this for your amp and sub woofer?

Do you have pictures of the OEM Sirius radio and the installed antenna??? Thanks in advance
