Upgrading the sound system in E class
Whats the best way for me to upgrade my sound, this system is good its just not loud enough
Can I add a new headunit and still keep my command? I really do not want to destroy the stock look of the car but the sound system is killing me.

I agree about the stereo, but I think that it is more of a speaker problem than the actual unit issue. I believe that if you were to remove the COMAND head unit, that you would lose a ton of functionality, if it is even possible. I'm not an expert in this area, so don't take my word on it.
A couple of users have done an upgrade, including just replacing the subwoofer and couple of other speakers for a tremendous improvement in sound.

The sub is a wedge/angled shape on the back, so it molds perfectly to the angle of the rear back seats. As you can tell from the last picture, there's still a lot of trunk space left. It doesn't eat up that much space.
My car is a lease, so I wanted a solution that would be easy to take out, and not leave much of a mark that it had been there.
I also just added the OEM Sirius satellite radio last week, and that's another highly recommended upgrade. The antenna is installed under the rear deck, NOT drilled onto the top of the trunk like MB instructs their dealers to do.

kyee,
I was thinking about something similar to your setup, and would love to hear it sometime if possible. Where are you located in the Bay Area? I'm in Oakland.
Thanks,

Ducman/Kort677 -
All my installer did was tap into the line from the stock sub, put in a high/lo converter, and send that to the new JLAudio amp. Then from there on to the sub. The battery is actually in the back trunk anyway, so running power was a breeze.

Kyee,
Will you be at work in Menlo on this Friday? I have a meeting in our Mountainview office at 10:00 am. Perhaps I could swing by afterwards on my way back to our other office. The meeting shouldn't be more than a couple of hours.
Thanks,
Mike

I assume you tap into this for your amp and sub woofer?
