Completely remove auto-close trunk feature on facelift?

What components do I need to pull out/remove or disable to convert my auto-close/open trunk to a standard one? it's unreliable junk and only worked for the first 50K miles anyways.

Do the buttons still light up for closing it? It's a common issue to have the wires for them break and then that function no longer works.

Yeah, mine still works fine, the wires did break on me a couple years ago, but I fixed them and it's been fine ever since.

There's actually lots of old threads on here about getting them fixed. Usually it's nothing really major.

I personally would not disable this function because power closing is so useful and wonderful.
common failure is due to broken wires, I fixed it one year ago and I found it was fixed ago and broken again.
my 2008 E550 is 180k-km now, so far so good.

Everything lights up, the trunk closes about halfway and then stops or reopens itself. It's gotten worse over the years. At first it was just occasionally, now it's 95% of the time (especially when cold). I've grown accustomed to pushing the button and then lightly pushing it down so it doesn't have enough resistance to pop back up. However, in the last 6 month's it's started to actively fight me and now it takes a considerable amount of effort to force it closed.

I think getting it fixed shouldn't be too big a deal. Mine did that once after changing the battery. I normalized everything again by opening and closing the sunroof and holding down the button for a few seconds after it was open/closed. Same with all 4 windows, open and close them. After that, it was back to normal. May have also played with the trunk button inside the car, held it down for a bit after it closed. Also I noticed that if you walk away before it's fully closed, it goes back up. Do you have fresh batteries in your key fob?

I have more than 140k miles on mine and it still works flawlessly. Not sure where you're getting the 50k mile claim.
