Xenon Upgrade Question..

My car will not be delivered with Xenons. Has anyone performed this upgrade after delivery? How much and how difficult?

fairly simple... just get your car to the dealer and "xenon-enable" the computer, then install the lights.

Your xenons should be around $2k + install. However, you will not get active and range adjusting functions without spending an arm and a leg (your car is not equipped with the sensors and wires).

A few members on the board have done that. It is possible to get a set of bi-xenons and put them on after delivery, the install is really a plug-and-play job. The most important thing is you have to make sure your dealership can change the computer settings for you 'cause a lot of them dont do that. I do have very good pricing on W211 bi-xenons, if you are interested, shoot me an e-mail.

I am curious how you know his car doesn't have the sensors...

Since they have cut out things like the shelf in the glove box and the rubber mat in the ash tray, its not likely they would install sensors on the car when they are not needed

The sensors are needed for airmatic and the original poster did not mention whether he has airmatic or not. So maybe the person who originally asked DOES have the sensors.

So that's why I would like to know how one could tell whether that person had the sensors or not.

Are you saying that since I have airmatic, but don't have factory BiXenon's, I will still get auto-leveling when I install the BiXenon at a later time?

No, you still need the wiring and controller. However you do not need sensors, brackets, and lots of other expensive extras. The controller is only about $100 or less (and I even have an extra for sale), so, my contention that it is not that expensive. I am unsure of the wiring price, but I have reason to believe it is not a huge expense like some of the MB wiring harnesses.

By the way, I don't think the shelf in the glove box ever came standard in the car... did it?
